Having just received information from a contact of mine, I need you to disregard the taxiway system shown in the chart shown in #249 above.

The plan is now to have a dual Code E system (Code E is up to a Boeing 787 size aircraft) running from close to the runway through to new Taxiway Lima and they will be designated Delta and Echo. Taxiway Lima will run around the west side of Pier 1 (which is scheduled to open next Spring). The existing Lima will become Golf - but what becomes of the current Golf is an unknown! The re-designation will be effective 11th October.

Apparently the new Delta will mainly run on existing pavement, and Echo will be a new construction with work due to start this year.

Hopefully this will make some sense to you.

What work, if any, will be done to the taxiways adjacent to runway 05L/23R?

Many thanks.

Firstly a big welcome to F4A and, on behalf of the staff, I hope that you will enjoy both reading and contributing to any of the forums. Whilst we are not as large as some of the other Forums I believe that we have a wide range of informative discussion that will be of interest to you.

That is a very interesting question and one for which I currently don't have an answer.

I suspect that any update for that will be covered under "Infrastructure, developments and Construction" rather than the MANTP thread.

Having also recently joined F4A, I have to say what a great and informative forum it is, especially this thread with the on-going TP project, it is very nice to have a constant stream of information about the goings on at my local airport.

“Scottie Dog” having caught up with the latest posts on here .. your updates/pics are great, thanks.

Has anyone a chart showing the new taxiway layout?

I only look at the pictures... is there a diagram anywhere?

BlueManc - at the bottom right corner of each post is a #number. Look for #249 posted on 4th March and you will see a screenshot of the airfield layout - this is what I have referred to as a diagram.

A very interesting article ...
Personally, I m not sure how it will affect MAGs plans for Manchester given the associated problems caused by T1 with the bottlenecks and outdated piers currently seen today. Surely there is only so much that can be done with the same building?
The option for it to become a low cost terminal is a decent idea ... but I m sure RYR / EZY would prefer an expanded T3 facitility designed with today’s aircraft / operators in mind.

The second update is from my own visit this morning:

T2 extension. This will continue to be extended to the right until it nearly meets the new car park (seen in the next photo)

The steelwork on the left will continue for another 50 metres or so towards the new car park (seen to the right beyond the hoarding)

Seen from the Skylink as I left T2 was this building at the top of the ramp to the old 'drop off' zone. This is marked on plans as being a VCC structure, which I therefore believe refers to Valet Parking, and is similar to the Valet Parking facility on the ground floor.

Great post as always Scottie Dog, it’s unbelievable just how quickly things are taking shape with the development.
Will be great to see the steel work complete and get a greater idea of how the TP project will look going into the next Pier section next summer.

I understand they're for the construction of a multi-story car park - supposedly only a few levels high.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
