Yes how in this press release is this the final phase as it doesn't mention the 3rd pier ?
It’s no secret that even before Covid they got the budgets hopelessly wrong. Big discussion about it by some who know more than me earlier in the thread. Remember the lofty ambitions of a glass roof? Indoor foliage? Expanded legacy MSCP? Ramp from M56?I guess loss of 2 years pax and growth, and the economic strife since means that the accounts can't cope with pier 3 for now.
Makes you wonder how they were able/afford to do a better job at least externally when they built the orginal T2. No idea I might add if that went over budget, I'm a little too young to remember. It’s no secret that even before Covid they got the budgets hopelessly wrong. IIRC, Legacy T2 was delivered under budget by Geoff Muirhouse and his team. He was subsequently rewarded with the Manchester Airport CEO role. The funds saved were used to construct the Skylink.
It was Skylink 1 or the T2 MSCP. I don’t recall which exactly! Either way, the saved cash was ploughed back into customer facilities. T2s budget back then was around £265m if I remember correctly. It was under. So much under budget it also paid for the glass cover at the (free) drop off plus Skylink 1.
Legacy T2 was such a wonderful experience in 1993. Before the clutter and penny pinching
Sounds interesting. Please share the link. From online photo’s, it looks like phase 2 is in full swing!
In regards to the 2nd pier and the dual taxiway system, with work being done on the taxiway between the ATC tower and pier C at T1
T1 is still a dark horse but T3 is getting a new build expanded outbound security hall.Is there any news to as if T1 is closing or there being any improvements to the dreaded T3?

Can you provide any further info on the T3 security area expansion and improvements within the departure lounge (i.e. plans etc)? It's already been confirmed by the airport management online that T1 will close once the current T2 refurb is completed and the 2nd pier opens. This is on schedule and is expected around Q2/3 of 2025.
As for T3, the security area will be expanded in preparation for the new security equipment, which has to be put in place by June 2024.
There are plans for further improvements within the departure lounge area in the future, but I would assume any major changes would happen after T2 is complete, in order to balance the budget.
Ryanair will be the only airline customer in T3 from the summer of 2025.
