Especially for @Trumpington, Latest update image that I have found of the planned Taxiway E between piers B & C.

Taken an awful long time. Does new Echo taxiway link out to runway too? Appears to be a section disused when viewing from RVP?
Looking at Google Earth, the new section of Echo extends as far as Kilo, although I expect the majority of outbound traffic (during 23 dual ops) will leave Echo at the intersection with Papa to cross at P1.

Domestic/CTA flights to be handled in Pier 1 and via coaching (A&B gates). Biometrics for arrivals have been installed already to the left of the UK Border. Aurigny are the first to move over in February, shortly followed by Aer Lingus & BA.

Stands 301-308 (formally 201-208) are to be re-numbered on the night of 20th March with the former stand 205 (305) to be re-opened in early April. This stand does not have an airbridge (was removed back in 2017). Stands will remain in MARS configuration so for example 204L will become 304L. Within the terminal these gates will become D1-D8.

The Original baggage reclaim is planned to reopen in early April along with check in Zone B.

East Security fit out is mostly completed now and most retail units have been handed over for fit-out.

Hi @CCGE29 any further updates on these developments?
Thanks.

Various trials have been completed so far with regards to biometrics - indeed they are now being used operationally with Aurigny. Should hear some news regarding BA next week. Move to T2 provisionally mid April. Will use bus gates whilst works conclude.

As for the stand changes, the large boards at top of the stands have now been covered up. Tug boxes at head of stands have the new stand numbers painted. Just the stand number identification boards on the AVDGS and the taxiway markings that will be changed overnight on the 19th.

Once Pier 2 is open and dual taxiway in operation. What projects do we think will come up over next 5 years? We know about cargo sheds becoming remote stands but anything else meaty?

Just a quick update re-T2 landside.

Hoardings at the new check in (Zone B) to start coming down tonight. Zone B will open at the end of the month followed by the 5 of the lanes in new security east and part of the new departure lounge in April.

Outside, the detailed stand plan is confirmed as stands 206/210/214 as the A380 capable stands.

215 is the lonely stand with no bridge at the end of the pier.

On the opposite side, wide body stands 203/207/209/213.

All stands except 215 are MARS so either 2 narrow-body aircraft or 1 wide body.

At max capacity the pier will have 7 wide-body & 1 narrow-body gate or 13 narrow-body gates.

Great info as always, thanks.

It was reported on social media that the Emirates lounge has been delayed opening and is expected to open in November. Hopefully this is just a rumour but there is supposedly a shortage of certain equipment that Emirates is procuring for the lounge…

The reconfiguration of T1/T3 is on-going slowly but surely so this will take us into the summer along with the completion of the TP.

After the new remote stands I would say it has to be pier 3 surely and the demolition of pier B!
A new modern pier would be great for T3 where the current pier B is located, purely for Ryanair’s growth, with a relocated and extended immigration and baggage reclaim and arrivals area…

The current T3 arrivals set up is crying out for expansion especially if the current T1 arrivals is being closed…

Pier B you say??!

Don’t get excited though; this is at least a decade old. But it’s not like they haven’t thought about it.
Nice design, but no good for low costs!

I'd say Pier 3 will happen one day, but will be very disruptive, loss of all legacy stands. May not be much of a net gain, especially considering central removed will be lost. Better to concentrate on improving T1 and T3, and yes rebuilding Pier B and maybe taking down Pier C and making new stands that could run down eastern flank of T1? This would give more room for Pier 3 and maybe 4 one day!!

I think with IndiGo and PIA coming online I think MAG wont have a choice. Pier 3 would be the most cost-effective and logical solution for a shortage of gates. As someone else has already mentioned the construction crews who built Pier 1 and 2 will be the most skilled to build 3. So waiting another five years could cost more with inflation and materials.

T2 will be fully open for summer retail space is whats holding it back currently. Legacy check in hall is almost there although I'm sceptical if the floors will get replaced. I wish they would do something with the legacy check in forecourt drop-off as it doesn't match the new frontage on the new T2 extension. Will also be interested to see what airlines get what check-in zones.

If you look at the planned taxiway configuration for when Pier 2 is open, there are Orange/Centre/Blue taxiways running along the southern side of Pier 2 (November Bravo) the same as between Piers 1 & 2 (November Alpha).

This only makes sense if Pier 3 will get built eventually.

The plan was always to have them not match. For whatever reason (budget).

I’d just be happy if they paved the old tarmac over since the inside drop off lane won’t be used again.

The plan it seems is also not to have the same type tile flooring between the legacy and new T2! Judging by photo’s on another forum, the check in zone B still has the old flooring and is due to open in 2 weeks!
Very disappointing!

In the latest of the cost saving techniques, the floor will indeed remain. Albeit it will be polished before the check in re-opens.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
