Does anyone know what the black facade here is on the end the old T2. Could this be a connection point for a new pier?
It’s a new bolted on staircase / escalator / lift tower so passengers can get to various different floors.

Tip for these type of photos - turn your phone 90 degrees. You’ll get more of the subject in shot and less wasted space of concrete and sky.

Brilliant photos looks like the Jet bridges are 50% installed. I would imagine Pier 3 would go there as and when MAG have the money for it. MAG have just done a sponsorship deal with Revolut for the gates so you will see that branding appear on Pier 2 a some point.

Is it me or does the safedock system look smaller on pier 2 to the rest of the stands?

They need to take the old stand signs down too on legacy T2.

And replace the broken “Manchester” sign on the legacy facade. Such a poor first impression.

You can’t replace the lights individually on that sign, so it’s a case of waiting for them all to go out unfortunately…

Stick on a florescent vinyl across each letter. As long as they kept it clean
That would sort it. Ah yeah, it’d just end up as manky as the concrete that just needs a good power wash and yet will never get done 🤦‍♂️

Just demolish lol!

Have they removed 2 x double airbridges on Pier C yet? None gone on T3 yet?

Re T1/T3 integration development. When does this start and when is it expected to be completed? Are there any plans to demolish old ops tower and original control tower block? Is this office block used for anything incidentally? Do we think ultimately T1/T3 will be just know as T1?

Of course works have already started in the former BA lounge. Ryanair's move to T1 departures is due to happen in November now supposedly, so I'd imagine the remaining works to expand T3 would begin then once T3 Check-In/Security is closed.

Also flew with EasyJet yesterday and a lot of ground staff appear to have been told they are due for a November move to T2 as well. It would now not surprise me if all airlines in T1 and T3 now move to T2 at the same time. A September opening of Pier 2 could be provisionally used by current airlines in T2 (as there is still a lot of aircraft using remote stands atm) and moving all airlines over to a terminal at the same time is common at other airports. It also wouldn't be during the summer season, most terminal moves at MAN have been in November (I believe Monarch to T2 and EasyJet to T1 were in November 2011) and I don't think keeping T1 exclusively for Emirates is sustainable at all, but hopefully the lounge should be ready by then. Just my thoughts of course.

Security A was also pleasant, not as many scanners as they were but nice and functional, and the area has also had some upgrades including new lighting which is good to see. Departures A was also dead, never seen it so quiet in all my life.

@MKY661 Couldn’t agree more in your sentiments! By November when the winter schedule is already in place and is a quiet period anyway, it’s the best time for airline moves.
It makes sense too, T1 has had its day! The use of pier B (and to a certain degree pier C) is an embarrassment for this day and age!

I used security B with easyJet last month and as much as it was efficient and functional, especially with the new scanners, it’s depressing down there! Feel for the staff having no daylight all day! I know security A is the same, but least it’s that bit more modern and higher ceilings.
The floor in security A was a right mess last time I used it so hope they plan to sort this out too before the winter period!

easyJet’s handling agent DHL has been given a handover date for their new facilities in T2. This is late November however there is plenty of time between now and then for that to change.

The departure lounge & VCC has been handed over and is now airside albeit closed to public until late July. Security East is also being used in peak times; mainly the during the morning hours. Pier 2 to open late September onwards in a phased process.

T3 renovation has begun in the area of the old Escape/BA lounges however much of the work is being held until FR start transferring more of the operation over to T1.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
