Watching U tube Airlines Live shows, seems like all double airbridges are still intact on Pier C satalliate. Doesn't look they been downgraded yet? Maybe that's been mothballed too 😂

If you watched them from the T1 multi storey the 29 and 31 are mostly obstructed so may be why you didn't see them :)

Do they plane to replace the jet bridges on stands 301-308 with ones with glass on them like the jet bridges on pier 1 and 2?
In short, no.

In other airbridge related news, Pier 2 (C Gates) now has all but 2 bridges installed. Last ones to be installed in the coming week before the pier becomes airside at the end of the month. Stands 214/210(Inner) are the last bridges to be installed.

Noticed this morning with a very long lens, like you said the porta cabin village is going.

Staying on the topic of airbridge’s…any progress on what was mentioned earlier this year ref the removal of some of the T3 bridge’s?

All look in place still!?

All look in place still!?
Pier B double airbridge surely will go. Once Emirates moved to Pier 2. I'm still wondering if they will keep Pier Cs bridges once stands become remote for T2, if that ever happens!!

No doubt the stand 12 double airbridge will eventually go.

As for pier C, yes they will be kept.
It’s already been discussed on here that pier C will technically become part of T2 although not physically connected, so it sounds like passengers will depart from the pier C gates and therefore aircraft will need the airbridge’s.

Apologies if it's been mentioned already, but can someone explain how the pax bussed from the B Gates in T2 to C Pier (soon to become T2) will board? Take it bussed to the 20s gates and make their way up into C Pier rather than dropped at ramp level and through the grungy door/basement entrances at the head of stands (if memory serves). Or dependent on whether the stand has an airbridge will be bussed to front and rear steps at the aircraft itself?

They could always look to do what Dublin do, and refurb the interior of Pier C, and rather than bus passengers to individual flights departing from Pier C, you have 3 busses running constantly between T2 and Pier C shuttling passengers over, then put in a small coffee shop, and a mini branch of duty free and use the space as well - like Dublin do on the South Gates.

You could do a similar thing for arrivals or you could just bus arriving passengers back on a flight by flight basis ...

It would operate in a similar fashion to the trains in Heathrow linked 5A, 5B and 5C and the bus in Dublin linking T2 to the south gates ... that's how I would do it anyway ... it will give a marginally better pax experience.

If memory serves there are double door width ground floor fire exits. Perhaps they’ll use them (given the lacklustre experience and steepness of the steps I’d hope not!)

The plan to bus to pier C would make sense if terminal 1 was completely closing, but with check-in and security and duty free staying open wouldn’t it be a better passenger experience to walk from duty free to the pier via the very nice modern glass terminal area which exists at the end of the current terminal 1 rather than a bus?

This would also ease pressure on terminal 2 making it a nicer experience as whilst there is now a massive area for security and duty free, there isn’t actually that much more room in the departure lounge set to open?

Sounds awful. Bus from T2 to Pier C, enter via fire doors, walk to airbridge. Can't see that happening. Maybe Pier C and B will ultimately become part of T3. Old T1 space used for Easyjet departures. Unless of course they link Pier C to T2, although most have ruled this out now!?

My advice for cost cutting. Scrap Pier 3 and 4. Retain legacy gates and Pier C, probably same number of stands anyway!! 😂

Not too dissimilar from other airports, they use people movers - MAN uses Cobus 3000’s.

Won’t be the most ideal but can’t help but feel there’s quite some exaggeration going on here.

T2 now is still a way better experience than T1 ever was.

Until pier 3 is built this is I imagine the best option or only logical option and good to hear these gates are getting a refresh.
Question is how will passengers enter pier C from the outside?

Maybe somehow through the terminal transfer bus? According to the airport website there is a terminal transfer bus that runs between Gate B2 at T2 to Gate 20C at T1. Then I would guess passengers would walk up the stairs and turn right to Pier C, with the left side closed off to segregate Ryanair Passengers using Pier B (If that's still the plan?). Arrivals I would imagine would go through the segregated Pier C as it is today, then just before the current passport control, passengers turn left through the flight transfer centre and back onto the bus to Gate B12 that way? This all might be complete gobbledygook but could be a way to enter Pier C.

Also I can see the logic in doing this, but if Pier C joining T2 from the interior is to be the case, I hope there is prior notice for departing flights that will use Pier C. I know EasyJet only announce the gate 45 minutes before departure and passengers scrambling to get a bus to Pier C and onto the plane in that time might be chaotic. Tbf I usually know my Gate when I arrive at the airport first thing due to knowing the aircraft registration, but if knew my flight was to leave from Pier C without an announced gate, I would also be worried about being refused entry onto the bus to get to Pier C early. Hopefully Pier C will be dedicated to one airline only too, will make things easier. (@CCGE29 I hope my thoughts aren't too over the top :D)

What is clear, and a disappointment, is the numbers aren’t adding up to what they were a decade ago. Loose 2 piers and retain 8 legacy gates and it seems T2X isn’t big enough. A high percentage of bussing for a brand new facility is a downgrade. Did 2 piers really make such a difference? Did they get the numbers wrong? Is MAN doing better than predicted?

The bus lounge was a later addition, circa 2018 if I recall. Did they have an inkling then they wouldn’t have enough gates? Others have said it and I agree, tart up T3 and keep easyJet and Ryanair there. Maybe even domestics too. It feels we’re adding to another “make do” set up with a less than stellar customer experience.

This is exactly what makes no sense to me. Pier C is already physically connected to another terminal which is now (essentially) remaining in use: why create an inconvenient bussing operation from a non-connected terminal when you could just leave another airline or two in T1/3 and have their passengers walk to the aircraft? Seems bananas to me!

Totally agree

Make do and mend! Refurb Pier B and C keep linked to T3- will probably be renamed T1 anyway to avoid confusion. Demo old towers. Ryan, Easy and domestics should stay there. Use T2 for everyone else. Invest £ in this rather than Pier 3 and 4. T2 not big enough to house everyone ( minus Ryan)!!

Not sure if this has been posted already, but dummy booking on the airport car park site suggests some dates for terminal moves as follows:
16 Sep: EI
22 Sep: LG
24 Sep: AY
7 Oct : BA
20 Oct: LM
26 Oct: SK, FI, GF, TS, EY, TK
I have no idea how accurate this is, and I assume the 26 Oct dates are just placeholders for the start of the winter schedule and will still move around a bit.
Same page suggests U2 & EK in T1 until at least the end of the year.
Corendon I think may be summer only so I assume will just re start next year from T2?

Yes Corendon are summer only. I'm assuming they'll be given a Terminal move date around the same time as the others regardless.

Just did a dummy booking too and Ryanair down to use T1 from 21st October.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
