Jet2 are provisionally due to move into their new crew room on the 25th November 2025 which has been purpose built underneath Pier 2. Furthermore, this should hopefully mean the old bussing lounge will be dismantled and that stand can be brought into service.
Good catch. Hopefully that does mean 302/4 will be completed.

Makes me wonder if Pier C was built in an era when the segregation of departing and arriving passengers was not mandatory, and when the segregation was mandated afterwards
Correct mate. It was one open space. And quite spacious.

The old bussing lounge is staying.. for now.

Stands 309/310 are planned to reopen in the summer though when new GSE parking & ULD storage is completed in the last part of the old staff west.

Hopefully some improvements to Pier C will be good. I am not a fan of the steep stairs down to Gates 22, 24 and 26, I think they were uneven at a few points too, so hopefully something to rectify this.

Interesting that MAG are saying that T1 closes early next year. It technically closed in the early hours of Wednesday morning, and I believe all that's left to do it to rebrand the T1 Check-In, Security and World Duty Free areas as T3. I'm assuming it will be due to the amount of time the signage replacement will take?

Interesting ref stands 309/310 coming back…I thought the VCC being built meant these stands were now redundant, but good news, more stands available the better!

Those good old days.
If the internal of Pier C is to be used by departures pax only from now on, I sincerely hope the partitions can be removed to restore the pier to its better times.

'Technically' speaking, T1 can close at any of the following times depending on how 'closure' is defined:
- Early hours of 19th Nov (the closure of the airside departure lounge and arrival areas)
- Early next year as currently announced (replacement of all signage so that T1 loses its identity)
- Maybe in one year or two (closure of T1 check-in/security following completion of new check-in/security for T3)
- Probably a few months after then? (complete closure of T1 landside if they sort out how to get T3 passengers to and from Skylink)
- Whoever knows when (new piers in T2 eventually get built to allow closure of Pier C, and Pier B gets properly assimilated into T3)

Certainly not the 'most comfortable' retirement for a terminal, but this does show how complex it can be for a transformation of such scale with this many constraints.

A problem that could be solved almost instantly if MAN retired “Terminal 3” instead… Ok, still some rebadging to do at arrivals but significantly less…and T1 and T2 makes much more logical sense. Still can’t understand this decision.

Thinking about this again and I can only assume it may purely be a PR-based decision? We might imagine the discussion around the boardroom table: “For 10 years we’ve been tying the completion of this transformation project to the closure of T1 so retiring the name is crucial”?

Presumably the original intent to entirely close all parts of the T1 infrastructure at this point was genuine (plans were drawn-up for extending T3 at one point), so MAN felt confident in “way-back-then” press releases around this at the time.

They’ve backslid a little on this in statements this year since by referring to “some” of T1 being used to “expand” T3…I guess they’re hoping most people aren’t as vigilant as the folks here who realise that “some” is actually lots!!

Listening to the latest podcast, one of the project managers confirmed they are tasked with the project of 20 new stands in the next 4 years!

I wasn't going to go there, but the last masterplan relocated the RVP to the south side. Probably much better for the photographers with the sun issues!
The current RVP has always been on borrowed time. The airport admit that the south side location is smaller and wouldn’t have room for the exhibits.

Funnily, the planned south location was indeed an official public viewing park for a short time in 2001!

Hopefully the 20 new stands are a mix of remote and new physical gates. As I think MAG knows they cannot stand still especially with new airlines joining the airport every year. 40 million passengers will be here before you know it.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
