I really hope the overcrowding hasn’t started already
No…it landed at 5.20am considerably earlier than scheduled, therefore due to no stands available at T2 and rather than be held on a taxiway, was allocated stand 12.

The cargo sheds coming down and expansion of the west apron will give approx 20 NB stands.

Survey work begins in December.

Also, it was QR’s choice to go on 12 this morning - the airport had 112 free for them.

Great news ref the stands!
Can you confirm if stands 309, 310 and the potential 202 can be used simultaneously?
Although I’m unsure if stand 202 will ever appear?

As you say, the theoretical stand 202 has been binned off for now in favour of 309 & 310 as remote stands.

In general plans change by the week so next week the plan may well be completely different…

Shame to loose RVP one day, but guess inevitable if Man going to expand to 40 to 50 million mark. RVP is pretty temporary in construction as we know. Are there any graphics to illustrate what cargo shed stands would like like? Assuming quite a large task demolishing sheds and concreting? Couple of years work?

Not aware of any graphics online already. Consultation on the land starts next month.
The project manager on the latest podcast says within 4 years 20 new stands are needed, so we can assume work will start next year and be done within that period, but wouldn’t know how long all this work would take to complete.

A cool video here showing the small changes in Pier C in T1 just before T1 airside closed. You can see there is some work going on at Gate 25 and Gate 27 now has been updated with the new doors and lighting.

For me the question remains to be seen if it will be used internally for arriving passengers as well, since remote boarding is not really feasible for Pier C as discussed earlier this year. However if not, it could be an opportunity to remove the glass walls segregating the Pier.

So interesting, mystery ensues re Pier C

So interesting. Mystery ensues re Pier C? Fact it's getting some make over work suggests will be part of T2 for at least medium to long term. Might even call it 'Pier 3 or 4' in time!?

It’s definitely going to be used as an overflow for T2 come next summer. Shuttle buses running from the B gates lounge in T2 to Pier C.
The refresh is needed and will include a WHSmiths at the current gate 21 area (this gate is already unused).

Gate 21- Point entry Pier C? In essence old stand to become a bussing zone!?

Interestingly 21 isn’t actually part of pier C, and already has a Smiths. Was also in use last month.

It’s barely worth getting excited over. A few blue lights, a new shaped sign and a new desk on each gate.

Gate 20 is the entrance. (The bussing lounge below the old gate 21).

Buses will run at 5 minute intervals from T2. Pax will go through boarding pass gates so they can only access the pier once the flight has been ‘gated’ to prevent any pax inadvertently ending up at the ‘Satellite pier’ that aren’t travelling from it.

So passengers would have to get their boarding pass scanned and show passport twice then?

Are we taking about specific airlines / aircraft type or a mixture?

Those airbridge’s need a good spring clean! The one on stand 31 is rusting very bad now, looks quite far out in it’s position, unsure if this is only code C stand now?

Will these gates become renumbered, for example E or F gates?

Also curious to know how this will work for arriving passengers - if they will be bussed directly from the plane or go through the satellite?

Thanks for informative info, solved the mystery for me! I do hope Pier C and airbridges get a proper refurbishment. Not best passenger experience otherwise!!

I posted this elsewhere, watching a livestream the other day and a Virgin 330 was on pier C being serviced and restocked. Once that was done to my delight it moved to T2X to collect its passengers.

Many thanks, as always, for your insider feed. Despite the questions asked by others it would appear that a transfer bus every 5 minutes sounds like a reasonable plan.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
