A new airport.... South Yorkshire Airport City?

Saw an article pop up on the DFP yesterday saying that ‘shock new information shows DSA could handle 56 flights per day’. Seemed to have been taken down rapidly. Premature release of another Council offensive? My feeling is that there’ll be some noise released over DSAs capacity, problem is this will contradict the consultation they’re completing which could nullify it. I’m expecting a lot more ‘news’ like that to be thrown in our faces over the next couple of weeks as we head towards the SYMCA board meeting on the 15th September.
It could handle 200.. but it wont, scrapping the bottom of the barrel? desperation?

I await to see whether it’s been withdrawn because it was released prematurely, or whether the DFP have gone rogue on it. I expect it’s the former, and there’ll be another offensive launched by the council and picked up by the YP and DFP overstating how much potential there is at DSA to generate more excitement. They’ll have to be careful with how it’s worded though as contradicting the ACP wouldn’t be a good idea. It’s probably capacity modelling.

You mean officially produced 'fake news', better known as outright lies?

Another blinder by Chadwick. Tells all his sycophants to comment on the recent YP opinion piece by Chris Broome entitled ‘why DSA is unlikely to survive’, then complains about the YP reposting it. Does he not realise that they always repost articles that get engagement online? 🤦🏻 Now apparently the YP are sponsored by LBA. Time that guy was put back in his box I think.

Perhaps the YP and/or LBA should see him in court if he is making what amount to slanderous accusations.

they will need more than 2 airlines this time
Have you not noticed that this ‘news’ completely contradicts the data they’ve sent to the CAA and are apparently consulting on? The ACP documents they have submitted have an ATM of 33 flights per day in 2037, not 56 as this article suggests. A bit silly really don’t you think, and possibly a reason why the article was pulled on Friday before being released again today.

It’s all fluff based on nothing but hope, and it’s designed to maintain a narrative. The CAA have already challenged these figures. Meanwhile the CAA will continue assessing the merits (or otherwise) of the figures already submitted, everything else is just noise.

Looks like reform are questioning again, Reform FB post states “
✈️ DONCASTER SHEFFIELD AIRPORT: FROM 9,000 JOBS TO JUST 2,000?

The jobs promised from the reopening of Doncaster Sheffield Airport seem to be shrinking by the day.

Mayor Ros Jones has previously talked about 9,000 jobs, then 8,000, 6,000 and 5,000 jobs.

But this morning on GB News, Sally Jameson MP said the expectation is now just 2,000 jobs.

That is some drop.

Reform UK Doncaster Leader Cllr Howard Rimmer said:

“At this rate, the airport needs to open quickly — or we’ll only have a car park attendant left to employ!”

Doncaster deserves clarity about the real economic and employment benefits the airport reopening will deliver.

We need the airport open, operating and creating jobs — not ever-changing headline figures.”

When will the penny drop!!

Reform don't have people capable of recognising a penny dropping. Comments about getting it open ASAP fail to grasp the realities arising from the processes necessary or that the diminishing job numbers reflect the absence of commitment by airlines or cargo carriers. I expect the job numbers to diminish further. A lot further.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
