With less than a week to go before the "big day" can I just take this opportunity to wish everybody a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

May aviation continue upwards and all your wishes come true.

Merry Christmas everyone. We are all especially passionate about our local airports, which of course does sometimes spill over into major bias and occasional gloating. But we all have one thing in common and that is a passion for aviation, so as Scottie Dog says long may the current recovery continue into 2023.

All the very best to each and every member on this forum

A very Merry Christmas to everyone on the forum and a big thank you to all members for making this the excellent place that it is 👍

with a special little thought for the much missed Local Yokel.

On Friday night I will have a private toast to TheLocalYokel hoping that wherever he is now he is at peace and that he got to spend as much time as possible with his family that he loved so much.

You are very much missed Jim.

A Boozy Christmas?

With the big day almost upon us, I thought I'd give a warning about the alcohol content of some dishes and sauces. We've all heard TV Chefs saying that the alcohol is 'burned off' during cooking (e.g making red wine gravy). This is untrue! Alcohol (Ethanol) forms an 'Azeotrope' with Water. An azeotrope is a mixture of two or more liquids that boil off at a constant temperature. I.e. the proportions of the liquids cannot be changed by boiling off some of the liquid (the vapour has the same proportions of the constituents as the liquid). As such, the percentage of alcohol present will remain unchanged no matter how much is boiled off.
This is something to be aware of, if you are going to be driving after Christmas dinner. If you've been good and allowed yourself a single glass of wine (although, I'd advise zero alcohol if you're going to drive), you may be at risk of being over the limit, due to alcohol present in other parts of the dinner.

Hopefully, I've not ruined your Christmas dinner.

would like to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year.

It's been nice to see aviation properly spring back to life this year despise the continuing challenges the industry faces, there is still plenty to be hopeful about for the future.

At 3 pm today as King Charles does his first Christmas speech I will be raising a toast to everyone on Forums4airports past and present.

To health, peace and happiness.

Regards

Aviador

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
