Leeds Bradford: Airport Application To Amend Night Flying Quota Methodology

Use this prefix for new threads for Leeds Bradford Airport
I suspect GALBA will come in with a big surge towards the back end….just my opinion.

Could someone put a post on the Facebook Leeds Bradford Spotter group?(I'm not a member and don't want to be) It has 45k members, surely some of them will be willing to write their support.
Neither am I…….Anybody willing?

I am not on there either, but I have posted on the groups I am on.

I have sent a message request too (last night) to Nick ( Blue Sky Aviation) asking if I can post in there. No reply yet but he probably hasn't seen it.

Ironically for some weird reason Mrs Finger is a member on there so she is trying to post the link now

Reminder to make it easy to find:

Application 26/04635/FU
Via Simple Search

Some thoughts:

No argument from a climate change perspective because if permission is denied then people will drive to other airports to take same flights.

Impact on job creation and investment.

Impact on international status and standing of our city.

Impact on tourism and inward investment due to flight availability.

No right to choose to live by an airport and then complain about noise.

I would just prefix 'Impact' with 'Positive'

Hi team
The application is currently sitting with 47 responses in support and only nine in objection which looks great! I’m sure we’re all thinking the same but just in case… there are certain things in a letter of support that will not be considered so whilst we currently have the quantity, let’s remember the quality of any submission is important as well!
I’ve AI’d it (sorry) to make it easier to summarise…

Do Not Include Non-Material Points
  • Personal Convenience: Do not write that you personally enjoy cheap holiday flights or prefer flying at night.
  • Property Values: Do not mention house prices, either claiming they won't drop or arguing that airport growth boosts local property wealth.
  • Personal Attacks: Avoid criticising opposition groups (like GALBA) or questioning the motives of objectors.
  • Speculative Politics: Do not discuss local political parties, upcoming elections, or councillors' political leanings.
  • Airport Profits: Avoid defending the financial profits or commercial success of the airport's private owners.
  • Vague Positivity: Do not just write "I support this because it's good"—unbacked opinions carry zero weight.
What to Do Instead
  • Keep It Technical: Focus on how the Quota Count System incentivises quieter aircraft technology.
  • Keep It Regional: Frame your support around Yorkshire's wider economic infrastructure and job security.
  • Keep It Objective: Use neutral, matter-of-fact language rather than emotional or aggressive phrasing.
  • Point out that the application couples operational updates with a formal Night Noise Insulation Scheme.
We could have a hundred more letters than the objectors but just depends which ones can be take into account.

Fingers crossed 🙂

Have you asked for a runway extension on behalf of LBA too then @LBA4EVER 😜
You no im correct finger, you just cant handle the truth 🤣 seriously tho as dmrogers points out the runway is an issue for some airlines and routes plus TDZs esp r32 could be looked at. I know whats coming tho " me been called a stuck record" 🤣

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
