How has this happened? There was a very large gap and it appears to have now been overtaken.

I just do not get how for example Jet2, Ryanair & LBA are not encouraging there staff to get onto the portal and give it their support. I saw a lot of comments from the west park councillors who were in full support yet they don't have appeared to have pledged their support on the portal.

They need to make it simple on the planning portal to support tbf. Do comments get read?

I just hope that the council ignores the support / object and uses its common sense in line with the aviation policy of the Government. And modern technology.

Was thinking the same, an international airport with all its staff and those connected to it inc family and friends and we can only rack up 94 votes of support! Although i reacon many who support the airport even if thats just the millions that pass through it are probably unaware of the airports application. Also maybe tactics are at play here by those that shall not be named, all the supporters post their views first then the objectors flood the site afterwards which means the council only see the objection posts first, if it works that way?
Do the council not realise a successful airport is a big asset to a city, it stamps the city on the map more bringing in more tourism and investment in many ways

If she puts her postal address and full name to the email you gave in one of your previous messages, they will update on her behalf. Just say for her to ask for confirmation of the submission and they will email back.

Good to see the West Park councillors are in support but for some reason appear not to have done so on the portal ( unless they’re barred from doing so). In any event they have the capacity to bend some important ears.

I think I need to make it a little clearer. They are going to review it but they seemed positive. All the comments however from local residents did say that they were in support. Or majority anyway. The annoying thing is this doesnt reflect the support on the portal.

I sent my support response to that email address that was posted on here, i had a reply back to say they had received it.

Yes, I told her if all else fails, to email ensuring she provides her address and reference number, but it really shouldn't be so problematic.

Sadly, that is normal. There is a general assumption among supporters that 'it'll be reet' and others will do it, whilst orgasnised opponents make damned sure they do it. That's why our ec CEO Gordon Dennison always referred to the 'Silent Majority', a phrase we have resurrected for this campaign.

Cllr Campbell is Lib Dem for Otley snd sits on the Airport Consultative Committee. He tends to sound helpful but he voted against the new terminal and Lib Dems are like Greens in disguise when it comes to airports. The rest are new to me. Any support is likely to come from Tory/Labour but even they aren't guaranteed. Labour Councillors have voted against before despite party policy being to support airport development. Personally, I wouldn't trust a single one of them.

See there's an article on the local BBC news (sorry don't know how to post links) mainly, and unsurprisingly, from the moaners. Interesting to read the length of time they have lived where they have! Tells me this is an ideal opportunity for the airport to respond to that article. The opposition is clearly gathering pace

I’ve read this and the people interviewed don’t really help their cause. One lady has “bad dreams” airport related, I think not. One has sleep anxiety, she would likely have this if she lived elsewhere. Finally one said he wasn’t against things but there had to be mitigation measures, exactly what was proposed.
These people need to move if it impacts their life that much!

It's easy to accept defeat, but I dont think we should. Its pay-back time for those of us enjoy a cost free hobby thanks to the airport. Im very disappointed in the number of supporters who dont seem to be able to find ten minutes to formalise their support by making a submission to the planning portal.

As has been said previously, the opposition seem to have the conviction of their beliefs, so we (on all fora) should also.

I think the airport will win this in the long run, no matter how many people cry to the BBC.
It's government policy to support airport expansion, the airport also want to bring in line with other airports which is in line with the CAA, so I can’t see how Leeds city council can go against this, and if they do it’s going to end up in the appeals court and am sure the airport would win this at a significant cost to the council.

Have also emailed BBC Leeds explaining they need to do a counter article on why you should support the airport, as long as Spencer Stokes does not write it 🤣
