I noticed that. An Americanism spoken in a pretty obvious Yorkshire accent. Aircraft would have been better, but its a minor annoyance.

As time goes on, I feel like we’re seeing a steady drift towards Americanisms replacing standard British English. My own grammar and spelling are far from perfect and I’m sure a few of you have had a chuckle at my posts over the years, but I always try to stick to UK English. As younger generations move into influential roles, the heavy influence of US social media is making it harder to preserve traditional terms. It's even creeping into institutions like the BBC, where you now hear "homicide" used instead of "murder." It doesn't help when our own teaching establishments are using US terms such as "Get in line", rather than join the queue. Etc.

Norwegians are taught British English - grammar and spelling, but tv is not dubbed, so American English is also very present. Fortunately, I have been told I speak with a non-de script English accent and no remnant of pitch accent, which is how most people hear Scandinavians (sing-song up and down).

I understand English is the main language for the European Parliament and they use British English by default.

To keep @LBAYORKIE happy, I have registered my support through the Council Portal. It was quite easy actually.

The "score on the door" is 424 against 150 for.

Others say they know of quite a few who have supported the airport, as do I, and numerius people on line say they have,yet the total has only increased by 37. Hopefully after the weekend there may be an influx of support to add. I still fully expect opposition to exceed support by at least 2 to 1, because it usually does, and not just at LBA.

It will, if they bother. Let's hope they feel incentivised to do so.

I have to say, that considering Leeds alone has around 840,000 residents before we add in Bradford and the rest of LBAs catchment area, I find it incredible that less than one 737 300 seating capacity have bothered to add their support in 2 weeks, and I suspect most of them are linked to us on here and people we know or have contacted.

I live in hope that there will be a late surge of support. I am less hopeful that approval will prove straightforward given the make up of the plans panel. Being called in will add delay but that, may well prove beneficial in terms of the outcome.

I think the fact that most people aren’t bothering to support or reject just shows how it’s really not a big issue to the majority of people, showing how if the rules did change it would have very minimal impact on anyone.
