Looks more like an access ramp for wheelchairs etc. to me.
I'm not saying it isn't that but the "ramp" is on the same level as the ground floor arrivals so there shouldn't be a need for a ramp to enable wheelchair access. If you look to the far right side, you can see where one of the door access locations to the terminal is. This is also clearly on ground level.

There is yes, but there's another entrance at a higher level at the top of the 'ramp' which also appears to have some steps directly in front of it. I would guess that the building plans will provide the answer.

Airside views look OK with the windows but all the landside views look horrible. It looks more like an Amazon/Next warehouse than an airport terminal. Prince (then) Charles once described some modern buildings as carbuncles. This is definitely in carbuncle territory! It's alright saying it's what it does that's important or that most users won't notice the outside. Doesn't matter, you can't miss that eyesore whether using it or just passing by. Could have done so much better LBA.
Airports are transactional. Most U.K. airports outgrow their capacity as soon as it’s added which results in ugly bolt ins being added piecemeal. Last time I flew from LPL I boarded from a glorified porta cabin. Yes it’s not the prettiest building but it’s the functionality that matters and most people who use the airport frequently will notice the extra space and overall more pleasant experience this will bring.

Thanks @Sputnik1

Any idea what is going on in this picture at ground level? It looks like a conveyor underneath the windows of the first floor but I though all the baggage arrival systems were going down into the basement?

Its a ramp leading into arrivals. The building is not quite level with the apron/airside ramp area.

The bus shelter is now gone, save for a small portion at Stand 8, and stand 13 connecting to the stand 14 portacabin. Rotting wood fascia is being removed from the cabin, probably for a face-lift (or hopefully more)

Meanwhile at other areas of the airport, a new Staff Gatehouse/vehicle checkpoint is underconstruction, capable of supporting the new scanners. Groundworks well underway at the old Dnata site, and the Viking car park extension worksite always looks busy. Fixed ground power is going live shortly.

This is on top of ongoing runway works, start of the Phase 2 retrofit, utility and drainage lines being laid in the car parks. Seems like everywhere you look there's construction happening. No talk of new stands yet though...

All sounds positive. Hopefully LBA can get approval from the government for a runway extension, night jet movements and the new terminal plans again since they're so pro aviation at the moment 😆🙈

I would think the new stands will be constructed when the night time runway repairs are completed for this year. If it were me, I'd be using the same contractor whilst they're on site.

Where is the new gatehouse being located?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
