Someone from LS Ops might have an idea which is doing what from where, provided such a person is on FFA. I have to say putting the -300s through Luton wouldn't be very wise, given their increasingly erratic reliability. At least the facilities and capabilities are at hand at LBA for these senior ships.

The timetable feature use to be helpful however that is no longer a feature.

Quickly looking at what's on sale I've found what needs an aircraft and on what day:

Monday - Ibiza
Tuesday - Alicante
Wednesday - Verona
Wednesday - Faro
Thursday - Reus
Friday - Ibiza
Friday - Alicante
Saturday - Faro
Sunday - Girona

So I’ve had a look at the booking engine and using the Monday IBZ as an example I suggest that flight is not LBA aircraft.

Out - LBA 06:35 IBZ 10:25
Return - IBZ 11:20 LBA 13:15
(or) IBZ 13:40 LTN 15:30
Out - LTN 16:20 IBZ 19:55
(or) LBA 16:20 IBZ 20:10
Return - IBZ 20:25 LBA 22:50

Whilst the times might appear to fit you have 2 rotations out of LBA to LTN’s 1,
Therefore where does the aircraft operating the morning return LBA and evening outbound come from.
Doesn’t make sense and would be a planning nightmare.

It could possibly be a 3rd party carrier operating on their behalf like TUI’s Turkey flights.

Ps the Wednesday VRN flights also don’t fit with an LBA W patterns.

Even if the AC is shared with LBA, there is still and extra AC going into LBA.. its not to be complained / sniffed at. Yes maybe not operating as much capacity as it could but so what? would you rather another airport get the extra AC and passengers?

clearly Jet2 have seen an opportunity with LTN slots and had to make it work. S25 LBA wasn't planned to get any extra AC / Flights but now LTN has become available we have this.

(If this is the case that the AC is shared with LTN.)

The schedule has been updated and the new based B738 for S25 will operate W-patterns to LTN every day. The schedule still shows 208x weekly departures in peak-summer 2025 (+5 on S24).

The flights are as follows:
Mon: (09:00) LBA-IBZ-LTN-IBZ-LBA (22:40)
Tue: (09:00) LBA-ALC-LTN-ALC-LBA (22:40)
Wed: (09:00) LBA-FAO-LTN-FAO-LBA (22:40)
Thu: (09:00) LBA-REU-LTN-REU-LBA (21:20)
Fri: (09:00) LBA-ALC-LTN-ALC-LBA (22:45)
Sat: (09:00) LBA-FAO-LTN-FAO-LBA (22:30)
Sun: (09:00) LBA-GRO-LTN-GRO-LBA (21:10)

LTN also sees a W-pattern from VRN using a BHX based aircraft on Wednesdays, and from IBZ using a STN based aircraft on Fridays.

All back home at LBA before a certain group get wound up over night flights, assuming of course, they're not delayed.

All these routes are regularly operated by 737 300s, so are these flights in addition to the 300 series flights giving us an extra departure to those destinations?

And none of them eating into those night slots!

With these flights operating every day into LTN I can see the LBA based crew nightstopping in a Luton hotel then operating lates the next day ending up back at LBA. I was crew for Midland in the late 90’s early 00’s and we did sectors like this all the time. Saves a 3hour plus M1 trip before/after the plane arrives/departs LTN.
Oh….the glamour of being crew….Luton nightstops

I would probably suspect that is how it will run - a night stop pattern.

Operate LBA-IBZ-LTN Monday, then LTN-ALC-LBA Tuesday.

Would be advisable to schedule departures from LBA say 08:00 and the return to LBA 1 hour earlier in case of delays.

As simple as that is in terms of thinking about the night time slot, to ensure we don't awake the dementors that we have in LBA, it's not just about LBA night slots. LBA may not have the space to operate such a departure time at 08:00, then there is also the overseas and Luton slot.

Feels the LTN and abroad slots were obtained first with the UK programme then adjusted.

In other news:

Tallin and Palmero.

Shame no new destination from LBA.

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
