Interesting rumour on the DFF that Jet2 are considering converting some of their A21N orders to the XLR variant. Not sure how much truth there is in it, but one to keep an eye on, even if it's not something that may directly impact LBA. But never say never, especially if as rumoured they are for Caribbean and Cruise Charters.

Must be intending that they're based at DSA then! 🤔😅

The Paphos flight (LS405) (G-DRTO) this afternoon has diverted and landed in Athens for some reason. It was showing on FR24 as still being on the ground some 1 hour after landing about 1915 BST. After it took off from LBA there must hav been something the Captain wasn't happty with as he did several loops over Linclonshire before heading off over the North Sea and onwards.

Any thoughts or better still answers why?

Maybe this was connected to the ATC problems which, according to reports, has delayed a lot of flights across the UK? And perhaps flying in circles over Lincolnshire on a fairly long flight left it a bit light on fuel, requiring a stop to top up at Athens.

Just a guess. Not sure what's gone on as I've been to Duxford today, so 6 hours driving there and back and 5 hours plodding around the museum.

Now on its way from Athens to Pafos.
So it seems as though there was a tech problem which caused the stop in Athens. I see that there was a Jet2 flight from Saloniki to Paphos which is unusual. I wonder if it was a rescue flight as the crew of DRTO would probably have been out of hours by then. Some juggling by Jet2 today then.

My memory, which isn't very good these days, tells me that DRTO and its brothers are prone to tech niggles. Is the memory kidding me again?

Yeha the tech problem was NATS. Hence the “loops” over Lincolnshire. The stop on route was for fuel. As they clearly didn’t have fuel to reach Paphos.

I've often thought imagine if it was say 2 big groups of lads (or lases in todays world) and it proper kicked off in flight with a major brawl onboard a flight, with only 3 or 4 cabin crew they aint really going to stand a chance!
How long roughly would it take to get down and land before it got proper nasty. A few years back i was on a flight where half the pax were big groups with lads singing and shouting down the aisle topless and proper out of it!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
