I’m surprised Jet2 didn't order half a dozen or so A319 neo’s. Easy have a mix of Airbus models. They could have been at LBA to replace to old 300s if they feel the A321s are too big.
They did order a sizeable number of A320 NEOs originally, but converted the order to A321NEOs which apparently, they prefer not to use here due to operating them with their engine power reduced (or something like that) to reduce wear. In the future then, once the older 737s are retired, will LBA left with the newest of the 737s whilst other bases all have A321NEOs?

Some of the newer 737’s must be knocking on 10 years old now? I feel we will always get the oldest 737’s in the fleet.

To be fair the are quite a few old bangers currently based at LBA with just 1x of the new build from Boeing been here.

B737-300, G-GDFG = 28 years old built 1997
B737-300, G-GDFK = 27 years old built 1998
B737-300, G-GDFL = 27 years old built 1998
B737-300, G-GDFM = 26 years old built 1999
B737-300, G-GDFN = 27 years old built 1998
B737-300, G-GDFO = 27 years old built 1998
B737-300, G-GDFT = 27 years old built 1998

B737-800, G-GDFX = 25 years old built 2000
B737-800, G-DRTI = 20 years old built 2005
B737-800, G-DRTW = 25 years old built 2000
B737-800, G-JZBX = 17 years old built 2008
B737-800, G-JZDD = 15 years old built 2010
B737-800, G-JZHC = 25 years old built 2000
B737-800, G-JZHD = 19 years old built 2006
B737-800, G-JZHE = 25 years old built 2000
B737-800, G-JZHF = 26 years old built 1999
B737-800, G-JZHL = 8 years old built 2017

It would be interesting to see how the “current” LBA based fleet age compares with other comparable Jet2 sized bases?

Ps; I’m sure somebody will correct me if I’m wrong with the dates.

Yes, but that based fleet changes all the time. To illustrate that, you've listed
G-JZHB as here but according to on line movement records, it's currently operating out of BHX.

Yeah my bad. It should have been G-JZHE not B. Blame it on me for not wearing my glasses when I was typing that all up, especially after I’ve just woken up this morning.

Oh G-JZHE is just as old as B at 25 years old. I’ll edit the original post.

I looked at STN this morning as my sister uses Jet2 from there and I always thought the newer planes went there but how wrong was I.

There were approximately 10 departures from there this morning, 2 newer 738 under 10 years old, 2 x 16 years old, 1 x 18 years old and the rest well into 20 years old with one 27 years old. Cherped me up did that as I thought LBA was the dross airport…. obviously aircraft change a lot of the times at airports.

STN today…View attachment 32706View attachment 32707View attachment 32708View attachment 32709View attachment 32710View attachment 32711

And arent some of the 737/800's older than the 737/300's?
If I’m not mistaken G-GDFD Boeing 737-800 is April 2011 making her 28 years old.

Why is everybody getting uptight about the age of aircraft at LBA? As long as they are maintained correctly and look good inside, the normal Jet2 customer is happy. There are a lot more normal Jet2 customers than people who read this thread.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
