Not the best couple of days for Aer Lingus Regional /Emerald on the Belfast City to Leeds route. After their emergency landing back at LBA during the week, there was trouble again this morning when the early flight from Belfast to Leeds had to return to Belfast after reports that a panel had fallen off the aircraft whilst in flight as per a BBC report, (so it must be true then!!). It landed safely. The airline said passengers would be offered alternative flights.

The same aircraft for both incidents, G-CMMN. Double bad luck!

This mornings Tenerife South arrival 03:15 B738 G-DRTN was cancelled due to the aircraft going tech (pressurisation issue) so have sent B733 G-GDFN down to operate the return and should return this evening 19:30

The 'K' in KLM now stands for 'kancelled'. L = late. M = messy. And so on. How sad to see such an old and respected airline in a pickle.
Given tonights KL inbound is operating it makes you wonder whats happening with the aircraft in the morning.

Actually the inbound is also cancelled.

Perhaps the storms are affecting AMS?
If you look at the previous flights of the scheduled aircraft, G-CMZI, according to FR yesterday it departed around noon from Amsterdam for Newcastle but was diverted to Humberside. A further four flights it was due to perform were cancelled until it departed for Amsterdam from HUY at 13.30 today (Friday) but after take off circled around HUY and landed back there around 30 minutes later. It’s being shown on FR as still on the ground at HUY. Looks like it may have gone tech (for a second time?).

Just to put things in perspective, yes there was a cancellation of the KLM (op by Eastern) yesterday, but also Aer Lingus cancelled their morning inbound/outbound to Dublin (there will have been missed connections to the US I’m sure).

Aer Lingus also cancelled their evening outbound to BHD after the inbound went tech.

Ryanair’s evening flight to Paris BVA departed two hours late and then diverted to Liege in Belgium (which is a 3 hour drive from BVA), and then returned back from there (probably without the Paris passengers?).

10x Jet2 flights departed over and hour late, some up to three hours late - not fun when you’re off on holiday.

It’s only 08:30 on Saturday morning and already there’s been a Jet2 departing 2.5 hours late, and the morning Aer Lingus to Dublin is cancelled again! Every other morning departure from Dublin to the UK by Aer Lingus has departed both today and yesterday. LHR, MAN, BHX, BRS, NCL, SOU, EDI, GLA, LPL, but not LBA.

It’s a little boring picking up on one operator all the time when there’s always a bigger picture.

I agree that context is important but I feel the focus on Eastern is justified given their generally poor performance.

While true I think we're reaching a point where everything that can be discussed has been covered. We risk polarising the topic instead of us examining it in a pragmatic way. There really isn't much point in us having a running commentary on every delay and cancellation. If Eastern is Leeds' only option for the hub connection we should try to support it.

Just for the record, this afternoon's flight was cancelled. FR24 is currently showing the late arrival as a KLM E190 and all three tomorrow as KLM 190s although there's time yet for things to change.

Cant see any cancellations at HUY or MME. This is really poor.

Looks like our based Eastern E190 that was tech is now un-tech as its positioning in from HUY. Whether that will impact on our late arrival from AMS, which FR24 are showing as operated by KLM, we will have to wait and see.

Tomorrows 06:20 to AMS is cancelled.
The inbound morning flight operated on an E190, as did the late morning outbound. The late afternoon inbound was also cancelled, but the E190 , after positioning in from HUY, operated the tea time outbound, albeit very late. It's due back late tonight.

Thus seems to be happening a lot on Saturdays. There are no football charters and it was reported to be tech, but what us it about Saturdays?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
