Jet2 733 G-GDFN operating flight LS 279 to Izmir has landed back at LBA over two hours after taking off after turning round over Germany.

Yes saw G-GDFN return back to LBA whilst at hawthorne farm. Guess it would be a tech fault if it returned back to LBA rather than a passenger issue?

What was the reason for the jet2 izmir flight that had to return this afternoon?

Tech issue so decided to return to LBA and use B737-800 G-GDFD instead which is what they were meant to originally use but that was also tech this morning but fixed it to do Izmir this afternoon.

Lauda A320 9H-LMP seems to have gone tech on the FR2311/2310 from/to Palma. Estimated departure 23:00, Ryanair Challenger 3500 M-ABTE due in at 22:15

G-GDFD(Channex 55DG) hit 2 large birds on take off. Going into hold at 7000' to decide if he is coming back to Leeds orpossibly diverting to Manchester.

And the sad thing is that the YP is reporting (with video) F&RS vehicles rushing onto the runway to attend to the plane. So Fire Tenders can now fly it seems - the Jet 2 plane went to Ringway and did a routine albeit precautionary landing. Runway inspection crew to pick up the corpses and any engine detrius, yes but
I thought August was the slow news month!

Someone needs to tell these reporters that there were 1,691 confirmed bird strikes in the UK in 2024 according to the latest stats published by the CAA (roughly 4/5 a day).
