Jet2 are doing fine with their gradual expansion southwards. They will not enter the risky Long Haul market for the foreseeable.
Laker Airways expanded too fast and was destroyed by BA in particular all those years ago.
Get all your bricks in place before reaching too far!.
They could get into long haul by selling long haul holidays using other airlines. Potentially a lot less riskier.

There was an interview with (I think it was) Steve Heapy who said they wouldn't totally rule out long haul but if they do decide to go down that route it wouldn't be anytime soon.

If, and it's a huge IF, it does happen then I can see it being centred around Jet2 Holidays with the likes of Orlando, Cancun, Dominican Republic and Jamaica. I wouldn't expect anything soon though, especially with the state of the world at the moment.

I think we'll continue to see increases in the European holiday market and hopefully there will be scope for the likes of Kavala, Samos, La Palma, Porto Santo, Varna, more in Italy, Cape Verde, Tunisia etc to be added to the network. Maybe one or two surprises too, I mean who saw Jerez coming?

I totally agree with Gulftraveller. I recently cancelled a particular hotel in Istanbul in preference for one in a slightly better location. During our travels over the last few decadesI I have done this numerous times. However, for the first time ever, the hotel management wrote to me asking for the rationale of my decision and almost pleading to restore the booking. To me, this smacks of desperation and it does not look particularly positive in the short term. In my view, consolidation appears the safest option for airlines operating on the slimmest of margins.

Measured calculated expansion based on winning customers and gaining a loyal customer base which could include travel agents over 20 years in my opinion is not risky. Knowing that many travel agents are asking Jet2 to go long haul.

Is that 60 destinations in total? From humble beginnings....take notice the mighty 🍊

Suggested on another forum by someone who is also on F4A and very much in the know on these things S26 will see Jet2 add 2 additional based bringing them up to 18 units.
Birmingham is going to need more stands in 2026 surely if all the growth continues 😃 at the moment in 2026 we might have 18 LS aircraft ,11 or 12 BY ,10 FR and EZY 5 aircraft plus the night stopping from LH,KL and AF

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
