Away from the bloodbath on the Ryanair thread it appears that Jet2 are to commence re fitting replacement seats on the A321 following the much criticised existing seats. They are dressing it up as a fuel saving decision which it probably is but having recently experienced their current seats for over 4hrs they are pretty uncomfortable and claustrophobic in my view with high headrests which don't actually support you unless you like staring at the ceiling.

Good to see they've accepted the issue shame they will maintain the 28.5 inch seat pitch, replacement will take place during scheduled maintenance so pretty long term and I presume new deliveries will switch at some point rumoured to commence 2027

I assume that it's customer feedback that's prompted this, if so it's good to see that they are actually listening 👏

I've been on several Jet2 A321N's and I love the aircraft but those seats really are awful. It's not just the room either, they're rock hard. Last year we did just over 4.5 hours to LPA and it wasn't nice, the 738 on the return leg was much more comfortable.

We're on one in a few weeks but the couple of hours to PMI should be bearable 🙂

Yes I am a little confused with next year as LGW needs 2 extra aircraft plus it appears MAN needs 4 as the A330 are supposed not to be happening and they are all prime destinations so we will have to see
what happens

And there is the question about 2 of the 737-300s being retired from the LBA based fleet at the end of S26. Is this also taken into consideration with the overall fleet figures?

LGW needs 1 extra not 2. Unless they are getting rid of the leased ETF doing the FAO. Which can easily be accommodated with the extra 1 aircraft anyway.

Based aircraft will not change @Birmingham Aviation. Jet2, as other operators such as TUI and easyJet, are now at peak capacity with planned based numbers now remaining so until the UK school holidays are over - if not a week or two past that date.

If you are getting at a new destination for Summer 27 - maybe that will change the based units for that summer. As for Summer 2026 - everything is now in place.

No airline chops & changes this late - unless of course it's all to do with operational management.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
