All indications are that we have a new flying school, VNE Aviation opening at the airport very shortly. This will take over the Hields Aviation offices at the airport and according to their "website" should begin operations next month. The owner of the company has quite recently acquired Bell 407 G-LUFC and also R.44 G-DHAM. This month two brand new Tecnam P-Mentor aircraft G-VNEA and G-VNEB have been registered to them. These are low-wing two seat training aircraft. The parent company VNE Group, has offices on Wellington Stree in Leeds.

Clear to see which footy team the owner supports. So are Hields withdrawing back to just Sherburn ops then are is this a buy out?

The sole director is Adam John Hildreth, 39.
I wish him well, but it’s such an easy way to lose lots of money. LBA isn’t well suited to flying school activity any more, and Leeds East has a good setup in YAA and Aeros. Also Sherburn seems to be the place to be for the grass roots flying in that part of Yorkshire.

Think Hields were charging an astronomical amount per hour. Flight training has got progressively more expensive over recent years but their rates were eye watering!

Would lots of light aircraft flying round in the summer months be ideal though esp with the sheer volume of flights we see now?
They can fly round to their hearts content to the North and East of LBA as long as they dont impact on the military zone, but it's the landing and taking off and taxiing that's the problem at busy times. It must be difficult to schedule lessons when they never really know when they can get off the apron and airborne or land again.

Plenty of airspace available around that airport in South Yorkshire to conduct training exercises without conflicting with civil aircraft,

The first aircraft for the new flying school, P-Mentor G-VNEB is enroute for Le Touquet on delivery and should arrive at LBA just after midday.

Nice little trainer! VNE specialising in crosswind training? :ROFLMAO: On a serious note - having done all my training at LBA many years ago (other than IR at Oxford) I do think that one gets a very broad experience at LBA. I've often heard it said- learn to fly there there and you can fly anywhere!! Hope it's successful.

Just like learning to drive in bradford, if you can manage to drive in bradford you can drive anywhere!

Best part about learning to drive in Bradford is that you don’t have to pass a driving test or insure or tax your car. Plus MoTs are optional.
And if a vehicle fails its MOT on emissions i was told that many a time they just stick the pipe into another vehicles exhaust, although they are aware of this happening so cameras are now present in many mot testing centres.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
