Sadly a watched calendar tonight and obviously they who are not to be named showing them celebrating outside the town hall today, must nice to have the time as majority of us are at work earning money so we can have a holiday, a good comment was from a brief interview with Simon Calder travel correspondent he says the only people laughing with interest will be Manchester Airport as they would bet set to gain at lot of business from the fall out from this.

As it stands. However if they airport applies and the council support 2025 common sense with the airport spelling it out that MAX/NEO are not that noisy AC, then suddenly the 21NEO will likely appear. 3 aircraft take out 6 movements a day every day throughout summer.
The worry is that the Council will be pressured into seeking an injunction against LBA.

More daytime flights + bigger aircraft = growth without breaching any quotas. One victory does not win a war.
Very true. We need lots of non based daytime flights to keep us busy all day. The worry though is a loss of capacity from Jet2 and the lost passengers not being replaced by others. At least there will be no impact in winter.

The bit I hate most, that I can't get over, is the thought of those smug G****A NIMBYs celebrating the damage they do without a care for the impact on passengers and staff. I really dont have the time of day for them. And neither should the Council. They're a damned nuisance. Hopefully, one day, they will experience karma with interest and they will shut up and get back in their box.

The level of smugness on Look North was enough to boil my p*ss. Infuriating, showed some clown by a computer and then an even more smug person being interviewed. unfortunately most of the unmentionables are all of a certain age where they have nothing better to do, so it becomes obsessive for them to bang on to the point of becoming illogical and against public opinion. Honestly, if my life was so impacted by the alleged noise I would move….simples.

Time they put their houses on the meerkat then!
Ironically, the article on the BBC News website was by Steve Jones. Whilst not the same one I know that is an LBA supporter there are others on here that know the one and only SJ

I dont think the council do have the time of day for them. They just cause them hassle.

You cant argue with a definitive decision by an independent inspector, the airports interpretation was wrong as simple as that, and weve got to expect the opposition to revel in it. I cant begrudge them that, but I see it as them winning a battle, not the war.

We now need a new agreement with the council and thats where the effort should be applied. Ideally there should be an organised independent pro airport group to add balance and counter the tactics of 'you know who'

It's the opinion of an inspector. They are not infallible. They interpret the meaning of a planning document.

If the airport's legal advisors consider the inspector has made an error they could appeal, and if the airport won, then who is right and who is wrong? Given the ability to appeal, the process isn't finished, so it's too early to be saying who is right or wrong.

That's where the council need balls to tell GALBA to quite frankly duck off / the judiciary system needs to invoke a full ban on GALBA and any associated off shoots.
They cant do that because often the challenges they make are legitimate.

Coupled with the introduction of some A21Ns from Jet2 would also help reduce the number of actual a/c movements. And don't get me, or most others, started on the B733s
Im not sure that would help. Jet2 would still want the same number of rotations per day, per aircraft.

current reality is that this is a massive handicap to the airport and will impact any potential new carriers, frequency additions etc. I’m sure the airport are all over this and hopefully some better resolution can be found, I think that larger aircraft and reduced frequencies may help, but then we may find that some routes lose some additional frequencies. Either way this is a really unhelpful position to be in.

It will be good to understand the airport position and next steps, as uncertainty is also not good for business and forum members.

May not be good for the airport to give their hand away either.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
