SunExpress, a joint venture of Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, has launched a new route from Newcastle to Dalaman for summer 2025.

The airline is offering passengers from the North East the opportunity to fly direct from Newcastle International Airport to Dalaman twice weekly, with all flights operated by Boeing 737 aircraft.

Return fares start from just £169.99 including 20kg checked baggage, offering travellers an affordable and convenient gateway to one of Türkiye’s most scenic regions, home to countless sand beaches, a wide variety of excellent value hotels and self-catering options, and a vibrant dining and nightlife scene.

The new route builds on SunExpress’ presence at Newcastle Airport, from where it already operates flights to Antalya. SunExpress will continue this service with five weekly flights this summer as well.

Passengers travelling with SunExpress from Newcastle are now able to explore even more of Türkiye’s turquoise coasts, captivating history and culture, rich local cuisine, various sports and outdoor opportunities.

Dalaman is a standout destination, boasting world-class Blue Flag beaches, including the famous Blue Lagoon at Ölüdeniz, along with lively resorts and luxury accommodations that cater to every type of holidaymaker.

Chris Ion, Head of Aviation Development at Newcastle Airport said: “We are delighted SunExpress has expanded its schedule from Newcastle with new flights to Dalaman.

“Turkey continues to be one of our most popular destinations. The addition of Dalaman, alongside SunExpress' five weekly flights from Newcastle to Antalya, provides passengers with even more choice for great-value flights and package holidays from their local airport.”

Tobias Bracht, Head of Sales for SunExpress, said: “SunExpress’ priority is to deliver exceptional value and convenience to passengers from the North East through an increasing choice of direct flights from the region.

“Our new route to Dalaman reflects the success of our services from Newcastle and our continued commitment to connecting the UK with Türkiye. Combined with our growing flights to Antalya, this new service opens up new holiday horizons for passengers from the North East.”

SunExpress offers a variety of fare options designed to meet the different needs of passengers.

These options include choices for baggage allowance, seat reservations, check-in methods, and flexible booking.

These fares are bundled so customers can pick the combination that suits them best, giving them more choice and the chance to save money. This new fare structure aims to make travel easier and more comfortable for everyone.

In addition to ‘summer sun and beach’ travel, SunExpress caters for several other types of travel including cultural, archaeological, and culinary tourism, and sports travel.

SunExpress is a value carrier with a strong presence on the Turkish Riviera and in Anatolia.

The airline operates in a total of 237 routes to 92 destinations across 35 countries.

SunExpress is the leading carrier between Germany-Austria-Switzerland and the Turkish Riviera and Anatolia.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
