Return from BTS yesterday was a breeze. 10 mins to wait for bus to arrive, escalator working*, fast moving immigration queue, bags on carousel when we got into baggage hall. Only negative was landside downstairs toilets.

*I understood escalator required a staff member at top for safety reasons but no member of staff at top or bottom.
Only if it's getting busy enough to warrant the escalator having to be turned off.

I know there's been inflation, and investment in the lounges etc. but presently getting quoted £40+ per person for the lounge access...

Yes there are discount codes around but this seems incredibly steep. I'd had in mind they used to be £20/£25 not so long agom

We looked at the lounges but decided they are too expensive so we'll probably just have a drink at the bar instead.

1432 Runway Lounge is £45.00 and the Yorkshire Lounge is £35.00
at £45.00 each you have to drink and eat a lot to get value for money.

You get 1 free glass of Prosecco but anymore have to be paid for and you have to go back out to the front desk to pay for them as they don't accept cash or card payments in the lounges…pretty bonkers to be honest.

I wasn't considering a lounge the next time I fly in September (keep clear of main season) but I definitely will not at those prices.
I suppose it reflects that most pax are on their hols and they will pay it.

Something I forgot to mention, I didnt see any boards explaining about the ongoing works to improve passenger experiences. Given the length of the security queue it would have reassured travellers that there was light at the end of the tunnel and could have reduced the number of negative comments.

at nearly £7 a pint (normally in a plastic cup), if you have x3 and a overpriced Burger King, your over £30 in a packed terminal with no seating. Id rather pay for the lounge, get a seat with food & drinks without the hassle of queuing / plastic drinks :)

Am i the only one on here who just eats before heading to the airport and at most just purchases a snack and drink onboard the aircraft? Seriously i just want to be straight through the airport! Big queues at the bar or eating establishments for overpriced food and drink in an awfully crowded environment, probably inadequate seating etc etc i can do without, no thanks!

Depending on time of day I get a meal deal from Boots as it’s just easy. I once mentioned meal deals in passing to one of my Norwegian relatives, and they were like you get a sandwich from a chemists😂 they thought it was proper odd, but then they eat Lutefisk 🤮 which is minging and definitely odd.

Its a way of killing time in the airport. However i do see it personally that i am contributing to the overall profit of the airport by purchasing food/drinks/spending in the shops, which in turn, is reinvested in better facilities.
You would be better off giving £20 direct to the airport, meal deal from Boots and still a fiver to buy a reasonably priced beer on your hols.

I don't ever buy anything on the aircraft and only buy the minimum I can at the airport. Everything is way overpriced and/or poor quality. Turn up and get on the plane, that's my plan!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
