The problem is that with space being at a premium within the terminal, the last thing needed is crowds of people standing around looking at pictures and diagrams on walls causing blockages. That in itself would cause problems with circulation and potential H&S concerns. That especially applies in the baggage reclaim area where there's preciou nos little space as it is. What they should have done is put some screens up in the departure lounge areas with a fly through video on repeat, giving passengers an opportunity to see the plans in screen whilst sitting around. That's far more professional and causes no blockages in circulation areas.

I agree with your synopsis on current “advertising” of the Regen scheme but do you think that maybe as you go through the airport on both the departure and arrival that some pictures of what the future will look like should be in, and on, those separate passenger process stages ?

Yes, but on screens, not on walls which will always lead to people stopping to look, causing an obstruction. In departures, screens in seating areas and one or two in the queuing area at Border Control where there's a slow moving captive audience. Definitely not in baggage reclaim .It would cause real problems down there..

How about the Security Zone? Pax can spend a lot of time going through and they are already queueing.

Personally I don't think there's any excuse not to have the information plastered on any wall or wondow around the building. The arrivals walkway is one good example. Nobody stands and studies these things but some images particularly in crunch point areas would do LBA no harm.

I think you might find that the Fire Officer disagrees with you. In public buildings circulation areas, particularly near staircases, should be kept clear and putting things on the wall which might encourage people to stop and look wouldn't go down well should the airport be subjected to an inspection.

If, as you say, nobody is going to stand and study them then what's the point in putting them there? I'm pretty sure that the airport management have considered the need to make people aware, but equally have to take advice from the design team and in particular the project manager and terminal manager as to where and how to publicise the scheme .

So it's pointless putting it up then!

The issue though is that they just might. When it comes to H&S and Fire Regs, caution is used.

As you will see in the pics i posted today whilst travelling through lba, there are some nice images of the terminal developments showing both the inside and out once completed, these are attached to the construction site perimeter fencing on the main entrance way into the airport, so all those that walk up from the free car park will see these images, although the fact there is a great big building under construction is a pretty impressive site what you cant miss!
My travel through lba today was a relaxed stress free experience departing only 15mins late.

Just what I said in my post. They should be everywhere. Dont need to be detailed, no need for lots of text- just a header and a CGI picture.

Arguably the quietest time of they day of course.

Flew back from ALC to LBA this morning on FR9078, fri 13th on a max8 i must add haha jokes a side the max 8 is a very nice aircraft to fly on with once again lots of leg room and a spacious interior.
Upon observation i believe we did land slightly late so lots of reverse thrust and braking to make alpha taxiway, those maxs certainly have good stopping capabilities, i dont think the pilots were aware alpha was shut, we stopped at alpha turnoff but then had to taxi to the loop, i guess if the pilots knew alpha was closed they may not applied as much reverse thrust and let it just roll more towards the loop.
After a short wait for aircraft steps we were straight through the terminal and non airside in approx 7mins, security guy was friendly too. So a good experience!

Sailed through the Airport Wed afternoon approx 2pm. Took less than 10 mins to get through security, found 2 seats easily near gate 7/8. Boarded on time but had to wait for slot. We were moved off stand to let someone in, but there were 3 vacant stands nearer the Terminal.

They seem to find it easier to "push and park" aircraft than shuffling stand assignments around. Also quite difficult to change a pax boarding gate if it's already been announced, which is often well before the aircraft has parked up.

Don't complain about LBA departures. I am sitting in VRN departures and it is stifling, people standing all over the place.
On a positive note there has been an announcement that there w
