I take it that when this man was on the conductive committee. All he did was express negativity towards the airport?

Initially, when he replaced the idiotic LACAN, he was quite sensible about the airport, expressing some support and positivity and seemingly someone who wanted the best for the airport as long as Menston wasn't disturbed. He seemed like a reasonable chap.
Over the years though, he began sound more like the LACAN rep he had replaced, disputing everything and very much opposed to any further growth.

When I attended the previous meeting I sat next to a member from Menston Parish. When they asked who I was they sheepishly wrote my name down and said I take it you are pro airport then.

You made an enemy then!

Easy done now as there's definitely more new representatives who are against than in favour. That's why they apply to be there! The Support Group is usually having to oppose quite a few who are anti airport.

And now we have Cllr Walshaw to add to the mix. Funny that in his list if questions at the last meeting, he wanted to know what records the airport keep of runway 14 landings and runway 32 departures, and why they were justified , because, (he thought), that the preferential runways were 32 for landing and 14 for departures. Talk about not doing your homework and looking silly at your first attempt. He must have been listening to GALBA.

I feel sure LBA would have had a smug feeling when they issued the written response to all the committee which politely but firmly put him straight.

She doesn't really tell us anything unless I've missed it. Instead of talking about her plans to improve business prospects at LBA she seems to be using her position and the interview as a platform to bang on about how great it is to be a woman working in aviation, like she's the only one. Have I missed the point ?

Well she`s `On Message` for sure..I think the subliminal message is I`ll be here until something better, somewhere else, turns up. Wonderbold.

That was the purpose of the interview!
It was an article about her. It wasn't an interview to showcase LBA and not to tell us what new routes she is working on, but she does at least give an indication as to what she is working on in terms of new links. Even if she has managed to sign up new carriers and routes, there is no way she will say what they are in advance of a formal announcement. Why tip off your competing airports? She is ex MAN and knows very well how they work and the clout they have with airlines.
So yes, you have missed the point.

Agreed Heather, you would keep your cards close to your chest until a formal announcement is made, there is nothing wrong with a hint, so we can start playing a guessing game. Ive seen quite a lot about her in the press/Linked in which is great as it is getting her name and LBA's out there / promoted. Hopefully will benefit both parties. Lets hope she is in it for the long haul (if you pardon the pun) and can establish LBA some fresh airlines/routes.

Would I be right in thinking that now that Southampton has been lost and Newquay hasn't started yet, we currently don't have a single flight connecting Leeds with another airport in Great Britain?

I hope LBA has got its summer planning right as am picking up adverse publicity on social media on service at MAN like the attached - if its true then LBA has a chance to really outperform its rival even with our infrastructure.

Unfortunately we don't have the destinations other than bucket and spade resorts to attract passengers from over the hill. And then we have the situation in the summer where Jet2 are only taking Jet2 holiday customers to certain destinations rather than putting on extra flights. Classic example of this is we have a friend who lives 15 minutes from the airport, has a timeshare in Tenerife and is having to travel over to Manchester as Friday flights are reserved solely for Jet2 holiday customers. The timeshare is a Friday to Friday let so has no alternative but to fly on this day. I've always understand that Tenerife loadings have been good so a smaller 733, with maybe a refuelling stop depending on winds etc occasionally, would be worth trying as an additional flight to stop the leakage over the hill.

You can argue the package only flights how you want, but also Jet2 will be gaining customers from over the hill on their package only flights from LBA, its give and take for all airports, there is leakage from both directions not just one. its down to customer preference and sometimes doesn't work in LBA's favour but sometimes it does.. Jet2 package only TFS flights will be full, they don't care if someone drives to an alternative airport for seat only fare..

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
