Here are a few extra points from last night's Community Event in Meanwood where there were a meagre 10 attendees, with at least 6 known supporters of LBA. So I thanks to @LBAYORKIE @northsouth for being there. Also a huge shout out here to Mrs Finger who has sat through her 3rd presentation with two of those being this week.

Our illustrious friends were on the entrance handing out their fake propaganda leaflets!

VH mentioned that MAN generated around £110bn GVA for their local economy from 30m pax pa compared to LBA generating. £104bn for our local economy (NY and WY combined) from 4.5m pax pa. Clearly demonstrating to any doubters and naysayers the importance of LBA to the economy.

There are 13.7m air passengers from Yorkshire each year meaning at least 9.2m of those are flying from other airports and potential adding to the surface transport carbon emissions.

VH believes the odds of LBA getting a rail station are high but the end result maybe different to the current proposed Parkway. Positive discussions are on going with LCC and WYCA about how best to serve the N and NW Leeds and LBA rail requirements.

I asked a specific question re reduced number of new stands which was "is the pax growth going to come from more away based flying, a commitment from based airlines to use larger aircraft or a combination of both"?" The reply was " I wouldn't say a commitment as such but Jet2 will replace B733 with B738 and KLM upgrading to 130 seat aircraft (so will be E295) and Jet2 believe they will need less spare aircraft sat around once the B733s are gone at the end of 2027 thus freeing up stands"

My final point from last night is that everyone in the industry believes Net Zero is impossible without SAF.

One ***** member asked what application LBA was going to submit in relation to night flying which was met with a very firm I am not going to tell you because of what has previously been reported prompting an increase in pre-emptive contacts to LCC from they who shall not be named. Playing devil's advocate here, if LBA didn't want anyone to know should they really have disclosed that information at a previous meeting. Has that happened from them reading this forum or purely their own members attending and drumming up support (using the term loosely)

@LBAYORKIE and @northsouth anything you wish to add or correct from last night.

And a reminder to watch out for next years events because these will not be VH talking to/at us as he put it but an opportunity for small groups to get round a table and discuss specific topics. I am sure all/any support will be welcomed.

Once again that's it folks.

I mean 10 people attending, which I would say is very low, some being G**** crap.. does this not confirm that nobody really cares about the airport and happy for it to expand / support? Sounds like G**** are just a few small minded losers in the group shouting loud, pretty similar to the DSA crap

I wonder what a different Parkway Station might look like?
I presume it would be reduction in cost motivated, but can’t see how this could be achieved?

The person handing out leaflets was Chris Foren, he's handed them out at every meeting Ive been to. This time however he didnt join the meeting- he must have had more important things to do!

There were 2, maybe 3 anti airport people and the rest were pro airport. Must be a first to outnumber the anti brigade.

I think the main thing to note is the low number of attendees, Meanwood is hardly affected by aircraft noise but I would have thought their neighbours in Headingley and Lawnswood might have made an effort. Clearly they are not that committed.

We had a great turn-out of forum members, its a shame we couldnt have got more to go to the more critical meetings earlier in the programme.

The next round of events, in the new format will be interesting, I will go to at
least one to see how we can support the airport but the format may not lend itself to pro airport involvement.

Nothing really new in the presentation but theres so much to take in that you really need to go to more than one, so never boring.

It was good to meet other forum members and a shame I didnt have more time to chat. We all had input and made a positive impact.

Tracy Brabin will be there with her balloons and party poppers. Leeds City Council will also build a cycle super highway direct to the terminal from the new parkway. 👍

Think more along the lines of a different location rather than a scaled down version. Don't have specifics just repeating the snippet of info we were given last night and understand there may be a few alternatives under consideration

Would take that at the moment tbf 😂

I did consider that, but the only option I could come up with is running buses from Horsforth station and changing its name.
That would be disastrous for traffic at Station Road.
I hope they’re just scaling down the version of LBA Parkway, whatever that looks like.

I don't believe that is part of the plan but completely reading between the lines (excuse the unintended pun for once) they know there has to be something that works for several communities here. It's about finding the best location, which yes could end up being the one that is the most cost effective

Could they not buy the woodlands place next to Horsforth station make a bigger car park then build something like the Luton dart up to the terminal
They’d have to build a new road from the back of Woodlands to Scotland Lane. There’s no way the little alley which currently services Horsforth station and Woodlands would cope with expansion.

I think the idea is to have the Parkway much closer to Horsforth, maybe making Horsforth station redundant. Sounds like a negative thing to me but VH seemed happy about it.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
