I have no problem with any of the commercial traffic, and never have, in fact Cookridge is not as noisy as my last home at West Park (directly under the flight path), the annoying little 'wasps' are a pain in the butt though, all noise but completely boring to look at.

The council have granted planning permission for 7 large advertising hoardings, as below. Sites 1 and 2 will allow the airport to advertise services to all passing vehicles on the A658 and will remedy the problems in the past with advertising banners on the tunnel.

The 'Welcome to LBIA' on the roudabout looks good based on the photos I have seen.

========================

2.1 This application seeks advertisement consent for the erection of 7 x 48 poster sheet
billboards within Leeds Bradford International Airport’s (LBIA) ownership boundary.

2.2 The hoardings will measure 3.3m in height, 6.0m in width and will be between 1.2 to
3.0 metres off the ground.

2.3 The hoardings are located on:
• Sites 1 and 2: Victoria Avenue approach to Southern Tunnel
• Site 3: Welcome to LBIA (Whitehouse Lane roundabout)
• Site 4: Welcome to Yorkshire Sign (Whitehouse Lane)
• Sites 5 and 6: V shaped signs on Whitehouse Lane
• Site 7: Entrance to front of terminal at Whitehouse Lane.

Interesting results from the CAA

Leeds Bradford Airport plans to use the findings of the latest CAA air passenger survey, which has revealed that it has the wealthiest passengers outside London, to attract new airlines and long-haul destinations including New York and the Arabian Gulf.

The survey found that Leeds Bradford's business passengers have an average annual income of £69,000. The airport was also found to have the wealthiest leisure passengers, with an average annual household income of £48,000 a year.

Not so many poor business passengers so bucket and spaders then going to MAN?

Anyone know why KLM1549 is currently circuling the airport at 17,000 ft and now is heading north around the Yorkshire dales along with LS272 at 16,000 ft doing the same as KLM and LS328 now beggining to head away from the airport over Huddersfield at just short of 5000 ft?

LS 315 to Paris from LBA has just departed using runway 32, now heading at 231 degrees, LS328 is now on final approach to 32 at just under 2500 ft, LS272 seems to be holding at 1600ft for the time being with KLM1549 now diverting in NCL and is currently on approach at 9000ft.

Err ? FOG by any chance ? KLM is only CAT II

I think the fog is obviously causing problems again.

LS315 heading for Paris seems to have made it out and is on it's way to Paris.
LS328 seems to have arrived without any problems.
LS272 is still circling at FL160. I think they may end up diverting to either; MAN/DSA or NCL.
KLM1549 has just landed in NCL with no problems.

LBA Flags Up New Ryanair Flights To Riga and Kaunas

ryanair_riga_kaunas_large.jpg

Ryanair’s CEO, Michael O’Leary celebrate the inaugural flights of the new routes from Leeds Bradford Airport to Riga (Latvia) and Kaunas (Lithuania).

Tony Hallwood said, “We welcome Ryanair’s continued growth at Leeds Bradford, the fastest growing airport in the UK. As Yorkshire’s Gateway Airport we continue to strive for low fares and more destination choices.”

Some footage I took a few years ago on YouTube of crosswind landings at LBA is going to be on Channel 5 in January on a programme called world's greatest take-offs and landings. I was interviewed by the production company last week about it, up at Yeadon. I hope that the final edit reflects what I said, in that I presented a fair assessment of our weather 'issues' without doing any 'slating' and also mentioning LBA's good track record in terms of snow and ice. I also praised the great skills of the pilots on the footage. I was asked where my scariest ever landing was....so I said Manchester!

That sounds like a 'must-watch'....! I also hope that LBA is mentioned in a large capacity as I recall Channel 5 doing something similar a few years ago, along the lines of 'The World's Most Dangerous (or possibly 'Extreme') Airports'....? It was only repeated some 2 or 3 months ago on Channel 5!

Please notify us closer to the time of what time/date it will be on because I'm sure a lot of us on the forum, and general residents would love to watch it!

I do believe the journalist in question came onto here requesting for information. I was advised by a couple of users of the forum that the said person was renowned for causing trouble in the industry. Let's hope the programme shows the airport in good light.

They will not be showing how nice LBA is that's for sure. Any nervous passengers will stop flying from LBA.I suspect it will end up being plastered all over the Dail Mail with shock horror stories about passengers being seconds from death etc. and calls for LBA to be closed.

FYI Aviador - the researcher who contacted me was not a journalist, just a researcher, she knew very little if anything about LBA.

FYI Wawrk - I very much doubt that 2 minutes footage in the middle of a Channel 5 programme is going to hurt LBA.

Why don't you both wait and see before passing judgement.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
