That was interesting news on the BEEB this morning about a load of Department of Transport jobs being moved out of London to both Leeds and Birmingham. Let's just hope that this acts as an incentive for Mr Shapps to give the airport terminal the green light, plus the HS2 Eastern leg, plus Northern Powerhouse Rail. It would appear that Leeds does exist after all.

Not a decision for Grant Schapps though. It falls to Robert Jenrick MP to decide the fate of our terminal.

Can someone please tell me how Teesside Airport is opening new routes all the time and seem to be now serving UK locations that I don't think even LBA are not serving?

How come they are building their route network at a pace LBA could only dream of?
Perhaps, as happened with DSA in the past, they are offering airlines financial incentives that effectively remove the risk for airlines in setting up a new base. As with DSA, once that subsidy ends, so will the route. It seems it's become a battle ground between Eastern and Loganair and they could end up both being disappointed. I note that Loganairs' inaugural departure to LHR was cancelled due to lack of bookings prompting an assurance they remain committed to the route.

I have to admit that it beggars belief that LBA has nothing to LHR whilst MME has two airlines fighting over a relatively small catchment area. Guaranteed one will give up within 6 months. Eastern, and their Embraers would be ideal for the LBA to LHR route if frequency was sufficient and it operated under a BA franchise.

Im Sure LBA and many other airports are watching MME and glad they're not in their position, what is the point in subsiding 2 carriers on routes to fly empty? basically pointless. LBA may be waiting to make their moves once travel restrictions are relaxed.

This pause in vaccines isn't good for bookings for LBA and aviation in general. Bookings were picking up based on pax assumption that they'd be vaccinated by July.

...And if you're not getting the first vaccine until May or June it will impact on the second one and the vaccine passport. Lots of queries from pax re. Bookings status over summer school holidays now this has happened.

If we don’t continue vaccine roll out, or we refuse to have the injection, we risk further lockdowns. That will be no good for anyone and it won’t then be the airlines that are dictating what you can and can’t do. And now we have another Icelandic volcanic eruption in the mix. At least not much current air travel for that to disrupt.
It's ok, this volcano is effusive, so just lava flow similar to Lanzarote or Hawaii, with no ash cloud. It's more of a problem when it's a proper central volcano that's under ice. There is no central volcano in that region of Iceland. Just lots of fissures. The area hasn't erupted previously though for 900 years so better hope it's not s sign of anything bigger waking up.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
