TUI base?
Surely that's the entitlement of DSA? Remember all the TUi routes at LBA, and the Wizz routes, are only ' on loan' here according to the CDC Mayor and she knows lots about aviation. What she doesn't know, she finds out from the local expert, known as The Mechanic.

But yes, a TUi base would be one hell of a (pleasant) surprise. What are the chances? At a guess, nil.

Wouldn't it be nice if, at the same time, they announced something else too? Like an Easyjet base from 2026. Or a Loganair based aircraft? Or they who shall not be named being declared an illegal pestulence that in future will be totally disregarded.
Loganair announced 2 new routes from MAN this morning. SOU and EXT routes we could have done with.

As if we need reminding:

A planning inspector will consider Leeds Bradford Airport’s appeals against Leeds City Council’s refusal of two CLEUD (Certificate of Lawfulness of Existing Use or Development) applications and the non-determination of a third, which would have allowed older and noisier aircraft to operate at night

Oh really? That last sentence from the first paragraph is the complete opposite of reality. Idiots.

The CLEUD that hasn't been determined is about allowing aircraft to operate which are of the new generation, therefore much quieter QC 0.25 aircraft. None of the CLEUDS are seeking to permit older, noisier aircraft operate at night, other than aircraft delayed that were scheduled to arrive during daytime hours.

You have to wonder if these errors are down to so called journalists who can't understand what they're writing about, or just intended to mislead. Either way, it's annoying and unprofessional.

Do we know what the time scales are for a decision / outcome of the inquiry?
If you go onto today’s BBC News APP there is a “summary” of the issues being raised and the duration of the enquiry. As with any Government enquiry it will likely take months before the outcome is known.
The article is written by the well known BBC Aviation expert SS whom we all love and on who’s every word we hang on to for clarity and fairness.
Exactly who may be called on for evidence, facts etc outside of LCC and LBIA I am unsure.

The airport said they expected to hear the outcome in June.

Just LBA v LCC and bunch of NIMBY lunatics whose insistence on having their say is why its now classified as a public inquiry. So the public can observe, but not participate.

Leeds City council website now has a webpage for this weeks public inquiry been held at Leeds Civic Hall starting today and running for the next 4 days here

All the the core PDF documents can be viewed or downloaded here.

Christ, it's complex! Worth a read but hard work. What is clear from reading this though is that the airport representatives are very good at their job, and that LCC planning department is now seemingly occupied by people who have an anti airport agenda, to the point where they appear to be attempting to impose additional restrictions through their somewhat weird and illogical interpretation of the key elements of the planning approvals. It's almost like they are trying to undo what was approved in 1994 by interpreting things to suit an agenda, that being to reduce night flights via 'the back door'.

It's also apparent that they who shall not be named have virtually taken over this process, even submitting evidence from some Professor, much of which is discredited by the airport representative.

It does make you wonder though how here in Leeds we have a planning department seemingly determined to undermine the airport, contrary to the Council's own Airport policy and seemingly contrary to Government policy too. Yet down the road the same political party are preparing to blow millions and millions of tax players money on a dead duck of an airport.

Everything seems normal again then, regarding LBA's battle to survive and grow. Once again, our airport is fighting with one hand tied behind its back by the city's own Council.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
