If you go onto today’s BBC News APP there is a “summary” of the issues being raised and the duration of the enquiry. As with any Government enquiry it will likely take months before the outcome is known.
The article is written by the well known BBC Aviation expert SS whom we all love and on who’s every word we hang on to for clarity and fairness.
Exactly who may be called on for evidence, facts etc outside of LCC and LBIA I am unsure.
Seems a fairly well balanced report to me.

Picked this up from our local MPs Facebook page. Suspect the event will be hijacked by those who shouldn’t be named and other opponents of the airport! Would be good if some airport supporters could attend to add some balance!
Best book early as the last event of this type at cookridge filled up quickly!

Effectively a kangaroo court at each event. As you say they will all be hijacked by the nay sayer NIMBYs as in the past. You have to admire Vince Hodder and now the new publicity lady too, as it must be a far from pleasant experience. It'll be her first time. Poor love.

I don’t support the naysayers in any shape or form, but if they are prepared to mobilise themselves more than supporters, then the supporters aren’t helping themselves. If I was local, I would attend and make my views known. If anyone from the forum is able to attend, then that is the only way to counter these people and perhaps educate them that they are wrong. Having said that, a friend of mine always says you can’t educate pork!

I’d agree, as the saying goes you get what you tolerate. I’m sure the airport would be more then pleased to see some of their supporters at these events and it’s also a good opportunity to quiz the airport team on their future plans.

My experience of these events in the past isn't a good one. Because they tend to be invaded by angry NIMBYs who don't want to hear the facts or truth , one or two lone individuals who dare to speak up in favour of the airport are likely to be just shouted down, and intimidated by the mob. The only way is for an organised pro airport attendance that can play the same game as the NIMBYs and give as good as they get. The reality is that's not going to happen unless a significant number of supporters on here are all in agreement to book places and attend all these events in order to shut the NIMBYs up. It's just not going to happen .

I agree, rather than discussing amongst ourselves these community meetings are an opportunity to actually do something meaningful. Ive booked for the one at Benton Park school

I agree. Lets mobilise and get to these meetings.

I understand what you are saying, however by having no positive or supportive representation at these kind of events, in the eyes of the local media and more importantly political representatives, it creates the illusion that the vocal minority are actually representative of the majority….

Lots of people on here feel strongly about the airport and comment accordingly, however just being a 'talking shop' has no effect whatsoever on outcomes.

These meetings are an opportunity to show our support and should be taken advantage of.

Its a case of 'put up or shut up'

True, but these events are information events. They are about the airport engaging with the community. They are nothing to do with any planning applications and cannot influence airport plans, nor the CLEUD outcomes nor anything else. They who shall not be named will try to hijack them snd their selfishness will not be overcome irrespective of how many supporters are there or how loudly they add their support. The best part about lots of support attending is just to shut them up and make clear the contempt many of us no doubt feel for them, but as I've said, the odd supportive individual may well find themselves shouted down and very unpopular. So, a thick skin may well be needed.

If the 'opposition' are there, then so should we be.

Is anyone going to attend one (or preferably more) of these events?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
