I'm sorry White Heather, if only I was nearer to Leeds, but Warrington is pushing things a little bit too much!!
Fair enough in your caae, but there must be plenty members in the Leeds and Bradford postcodes who could attend. Even if it means taking some holiday-its that important.

There are plenty of events/dates so hard to see how one couldnt be convenient.

There are many people on here with very strong opinions who slag off 'you know who' at every opportunity and we need them to step up to the mark and put their money where their mouth is.

Interesting rather than important surely. Will there be much in the way of news or updates that we don’t already know from Heather’s excellent consultative committee updates, or just from the fact aviation hobbyists are far more plugged into the day to day goings on than joe public.

Its two things, denying the opposition tickets and supporting the airport by having your say. Its an ideal opportunity to demonstrate support.

This is a generally positive report by the BBC.

BBC News - Under the flightpath: Life next to Leeds Bradford airport - BBC News

Still tickets available. Anyone else prepared to make the effort?

So far I believe there are only 3 of us.

I agree it was a very positive and unbiased report.

Very similar silence to the two occasions I have asked if anyone would take over my role on the Airport Consultative Committee !
Well, all I can say is its a pretty poor show if a group as dedicated to the success of the airport as we all are can only muster 3 attendees.

Perhaps, but as I have already pointed out, these events are information only events as the airport reaches out to the local community. It's not about gathering support or about any planning application. It's also unlikely that anything will be said that hasn't already been reported by myself after attending the Consultative Meetings.

From a purely personal point of view therefore, I will not be attending the Cookridge event just to hear what I already know. Those there who are anti airport will, no doubt, have their say, but as a 70 year old woman I am really not interested in being a lone voice in a room full of naysayers, especially when it will have zero impact.

As for putting in the effort in support of LBA, I think that having attended and participated in the late 1980s Public Inquiry (24 hours), raised over 17,000 declarations of support in 1993 for 24H ops (which directly led to a further Public Inquiry being avoided), and attended Airport Consultative Committee Meetings for the past 35 years (reporting back on this forum since 2009), I have done my bit. So I feel no guilt at not attending. I know that if I do, my annoyance at the NIMBYs will do my blood pressure no good at all. It's bad enough having to listen to and respond (when permitted) to the negativity from various Councillors and representatives at the Committee Meetings without doing it again in the presence of they who shall not be named.

Even so, I agree that it is perhaps a surprise that only 3 have declared their intention to attend, and all at Benton Park. That doesnt mean though that others are not supportive of LBA, nor should they be criticised if they choose not to go.

Going to temporarily lift my self-imposed forum posting ban as I for one take exception to this comment. Some of us still work full-time and have other commitments outside of work, so regardless of how much we support the airport it's just not possible for me. I am sure others will have their own personal reasons and circumstances which will not be down to apathy

I disagree. The majority of the general population in the area will not be attending and it should be expected that there will only be a handful of supporters and objectors with perhaps a few who are just curious about what the airport are doing. Attacking our fellow supporters is not going to achieve anything. People have busy lives and even if they do support the airport they also have other more pressing things going on in their lives than just airport expansion.

As I've said before I live up in the Dales so we get no traffic in to LBA at all, much more likely to get a Hercules giving us a quick pass at 2000ft!! However, I was in Menston yesterday and was outside when the KLM afternoon flight took off at, according to FR24, 5.22pm. This was a E75L. Honestly, if anyone has a problem with one of those going over they really do need to get a life. 'Quiet' doesn't do it justification, just a bit of a rumble in the background, far less noise and nuisance from the KLM than from the numerous bikers and big exhaust cars that blight the dales when the sun comes out.

I predict there will be more 'against' at the meeting than 'for' and its that imbalance I think needs to be addressed.

I cant speak for others but I would feel bad if I didnt 'do my bit' and so I have prioritised the meeting over other commitments on the 26th. I will also try to get to at least one of the other meetings. It would be nice to think that if someone cant make the 26th one of the 6 or so other meetings would be convenient.

I am still hoping more than 3 forum members will be there, after all how many forum members are there in total?

Im not criticising but see this as an ideal opportunity for those who want to actively, rather than passively, support the airport.

Again? What have we done this time? 🙄

It does feel like criticism.

I get it, but I think attending roughly 130 Consultative Meetings in my own time over 35 years, founding the Support Group, and the other stuff relating to 24H operations, which literally took hundreds of hours, is ' actively supporting' LBA dont you? I don't think that not attending an information only event that is not related to any forthcoming LBA planning, is being passive.

I think you are beyond reproach, but there are many more forum members than you.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
