Hope they're planning to include a Business Lounge close to arrivals/departures. Be very useful for hosting business meetings when people arrive to the airport rather than heading in to Leeds etc.

There used to be a business lounge upstairs Leedslad - the meetings I attend used to be in there at one point. The Christmas Dinner events that used to be held prior to Bridgepoint's arrival were also held in there. I am not sure what it is used for now, but our meetings were moved down into the basement and eventually out of the terminal altogether to the nearby Airedale House - at the corner of the road heading into the cargo area.

That area is mainly used by the airports finance department who used to be located in the building where the consultative committee meetings are now held.

Thanks Aviador.

On a separate matter, on at least 2 occasions at consultative meetings, I have asked the councillor attending who looks after Yeadon, if he could arrange for the trees and bushes to be cut back, at the viewing point near the cemetary. I pointed out that as it made it very hard to see the airfield from much of that area, it encouraged people to sit on the cemetary wall, or worse, go into the cemetary for a better view. He promised to look into it. Last night I went up there with my daughter to eat our fish and chips and was amazed to find that all the bushes are cut back to well below the fence level, with a virtual unobstructed view of the runway whilst still sitting in the car. It was great!!

Be careful in that area White Heather. It's still a public highway with double yellow lines.

The Police and traffic wardens widely ignore the double yellow lines there and have done so for years and quite rightly so. There is no sensible reason why the lines were put there in the first place.

I suspect that the double yellow lines were there before the runway was extended, until which point it was the main road. It was only when the new road was built that it became the rat infested backwater that it is today. The lines are very badly worn and broken up and would no doubt be unenforceable today.

I think they would be unenforceable too. The lines are virtually invisible now and I am not sure the required signs are there either. And, whilst I was there the other night, in total darkness, hurting nobody, I was joined by a Police Patrol car, who also stopped for a while to watch the aircraft.

You have a point there White Heather, but whilst the lines are there then you could be reported for parking on double yellows. If they are not reasonably visible and have not been so for some time, then your defence would hinge on "How long have the lines been in that situation and have the local Highway Authority replaced them in reasonable time". That last point is open to interpretation. The signs you refer to are no longer required for double yellow lines anywhere now. Leeds are in the process of rationalising this type of parking regulation so that all will be the same throughout the City. Before I retired then double yellow lines meant no parking for longer than the working day with the times display or At Any Time on the signage.

Broken lines make any parking rules unenforceable and highly disputable.

All single and double yellow lines have to be continuous, unbroken and must end in a 'T-bar'. If there are breaks in the line, or the line does not end in a T-bar (except where the line is broken with other road markings), this can invalidate any ticket given anywhere on the line.

hi aviador
the only time I fell foul of law on parking on 14 end was in the days of ward air when there was a large amount of people there, some were sat on the cemetery wall and plenty more were in the cemetery for a better view,we new this could not go on and then the police turned up with a traffic warden who told the car owners 10mins to move or get a parking ticket,it was pointed out that the yellow lines were broken and there were no signs, he was not pleased, one week later new signs and repainted lines then every Monday (I think that was the day)15 mins before ward air arrival time the police dropped a traffic warden off to move the parked off the road.

Well Aviador that may well seem right but the traffic order is still enforceable. It does depend on how long the offending lines have been broken for and has the Highway Authority had time to replace them with in a reasonable length of time. Just a bit of knowledge from my highways days! It goes back to date some years ago when there had been a trench reinstated in the Headingley area,. The double yellows had not been put back, A motorist was prosecuted for parking in that said area. His defence didn't seem to know how long the lines had been missing (neither did the Authority. He had to pay up. Quite unjust in my opinion.

Yes, they have decided to combine the Masterplan presentation with the next meeting on 2nd April rather than convene a separate meeting to do it.

Let's just hope not too much time is given to talking about drop off charges. As much as I disapprove of the huge increase in charges, I very much hope the time will be better spent on discussing the long awaited masterplan.

Good news and bad news I suspect.

First the good news. The Masterplan is on the agenda.

Then the bad news. It is down as a verbal update. I have heard that many times before and what we were told was totally underwhelming - being nothing. Considering that at the last meeting we were told we would be summoned for a special meeting in February to go through the draft (which never happened), I would have hoped that at least there would be a slide presentation or something more substantial, but based on the agenda, it doesn't seem likely.

The only hope is that apart from the Masterplan update, there isn't a lot on the agenda, so they have either allowed time for a detailed verbal update (with no pictures!) or it is going to be a very short meeting.

Typical of my luck also is that if they end up covering this in more detail next time (always next time it seems!), I am unable to attend. Now that will be rather annoying having waited for what seems like forever.

Still, lets see what we are told tomorrow afternoon and I will of course report back.

I just hope it's something positive. The airport desperately needs a lift, pardon the pun.

I just hope there is something at all. Time after time we have gone expecting some information and got nothing at all. Even the website states that the Masterplan will be published for consultation in the first quarter of 2015. It wasn't. We are now in the 2nd quarter, so if there is no information worth noting tomorrow, it will be very disappointing.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
