Presumably they have chopped LBA-SOU (if that proves to be the case) because it was the least profitable of their routes that would yield an aircraft. So much for regional connectivity.

We could seriously do with a yorkshire based airline similar to capital of the late 80s/early 90s. An airline that the people of yorkshire can believe in similar to jet2 which back in 2002 upon launch was such a big hit and still is. Regional routes to the likes of SOU and ABZ but also some very much sort after European destinations. I guess in todays world though it can be a risky buisness

Oh look. An airline called Eastern, based in the East, axes a route to the East of the Pennines, so it can fly yet more passengers to MAN, in the West, from the South It's getting to the stage where I wonder why they don't just change their name.

T3's fare structure is more business orientated and whilst people are wanting to escape the storms and get some sun, businesses have gotten used to zoom and the like and I guess recovery on routes like this might be slower. To be fair, flight times haven't been really business based and the fares not particularly leisure based so not really appealing to either market.

If they got their product, pricing and luggage allowance right, a weekend cruise shuttle service would still be great and give high loads if linked to cruise companies as traditionally T3 aircraft are idle over weekends but of course this requires a bit of commercial sense!

The problem with Eastern is that their Route Planning Dept (assuming they have one) seems to consist of a large map of the UK and a set of darts..There`s been more Ins and Outs than the Hokey Cokey in relation to routes. They start them, rarely seem to give them time to develop and can them, especially if a competitor comes in at the same time. Surely most airport authorities must regard them as unreliable partners, as Gib are the latest to find out.
With Eastern I wouldn`t regard them as anything other than a bit part player on the aviation scene and certainly not one to take seriously.

I’m also wondering if it’s their pricing that puts customers off. I’m surprised they have removed Southampton as I thought demand might pick up as travel recovers such as cruises. Which Southampton gets a lot of cruises.

And if they’re still using the J41 for Newquay flights then I don’t get why Southampton can’t be served.

It seems Eastern have been making more cuts as they removed 2 other routes from sale at Southampton.

I think they tend to operate on routes where profit can be described as marginal. They go for the routes that other airlines can't make pay. So, despite dumping routes regularly they should be applauded for at least trying new routes in the first place.
