Yes I had heard the handling fee bit too. But they have a spare SF340 when they stop the MAN -GLA route in Jan 18 and both LBA and GLA management will be keen for the route to come back. Bargaining power for all concerned me thinks. JH will have LM back into LBA in a flash if the right deal is in place

Now that Flybe won the Manchester - Glasgow battle against Loganair. It looks like Flybe are throwing Eastern Airways off the route whom currently operates the service with a Saab 2000 as part of it franchise agreement. Flybe will instead use one of its own Dash 8-Q400s as of January 2018 changes.

It looks like this Eastern Airways, Saab 2000 is been redeployed and will become Leeds/Bradford based to operate some of Southampton and Aberdeen flights as of February 1st 2018, Thus replacing one of the based Jetstream 41s earlier than first thought.

Spare Jetstream 41 anyone?

Flybe have ended their arrangement with Eastern Airways.

Eastern took over the franchise in September 2017 operating routes across Scotland on behalf of Flybe, it seems this did not go well as they were constantly cancelling flights an not operating routes in line with the timetable.

As such Flybe and Logan Air now have a new agreement. Flybe has taken the MAN - GLA route back in house and LoganAir will no longer operate this route. Flybe will all operate all Highlands and Islands routes in partnership with Flybe.

Interestingly last night Eastern ATR-72 G-IACY positioned into LBA arround 2000 to operate outbound to operate outbound to Aberdeen on the '7607. The strange thing about the outbound flight was that it used a Flybe callsign(ie Jersey 7605).

I wouldn't believe that quoted post one bit, Well not unless all parties involved eg Flybe, Eastern Airways and Loganair confirmed it. As things stand the has been nothing said by any of them and looks like someone holds a grudge.

So the cancellations continue even with the based aircraft changes.

ABZ-LBA EZE7602 = JS41, G-MAJA did not return after operating the early LBA-ABZ, EZE7609
LBA-SOU-LBA = EZE7602/7603 = No aircraft to op as SB20, G-CDKB was redeployed to op EZE7601 LBA-ABZ and preposition ABZ-LBA as EZE25P

I see the Aberdeen is cancelled this morning. How long can Eastern carry on like this? I am amazed that anyone still books to travel with them...I certainly wouldn't!! I am hoping to get to Aberdeen this year...and I won't be flying...give me nice East Coast HST any day.

I think the plot continues to thicken for Eastern. If the Bristow rumour is true this could be taken in one of two ways. Bristows either want a fixed wing operator to support the oil industry or conversely with the North Sea oil industry still suffering then they may be looking to diversify into scheduled ops so as not to rely on their helicopters.

In addition to this of course all T3's schedules are marketed by BE now and T3 have no res staff left. It is stated elsewhere that Stobart aren't interested in acquiring T3 so if Stobart do purchase BE then where does that leave the BE/T3 franchise. If it means T3 become stand alone again then as Bigman quite rightly says then how long can they carry on like they are.

ABZ is clearly suffering as an airport from everywhere so it probably is the route to suffer cancellations first but trust and loyalty from past must be at an all time low.

I would love to see Eastern stay independent as we don't want another airline name disappearing but equally they have to restore that good reputation they used to have if they want to survive.

It looks like 2018 could be another interesting year in the aviation world

I wonder if Bristow Group have had enough of pumping money into Eastern Airways after they reported losses of £3.6m last year.
They may have taken over to protect the IAC operation which is to be operated by the 2x brand new ATR72's which Bristows bought from Airbus?

Interestingly long term CEO, Bryan Huxford resigned from his position at a Eastern Airways back in January. That just left Richard Lake as MD running the show. Has he sold out?

With this 100% take over I'm guessing alarm bells will be ringing at Bristow Group head office in Houston.
As dose it really want to keep a UK regional airline that is.

• Loss making,
• Operates a bunch of odd ball routes.
• Reportedly has alot of unhappy crews.
• Operates a mixed fleet of aircraft.
• Jetstream 41s on their last legs.
• Let go of all resivation staff & flight operations teams at Humberside.
• Tied into a Flybe Franchise.
• Engineering division at Aberdeen Closed.
• Norwich based closed.

Can anyone honestly think Flybe or Stobart Air will want to buy that?

I can't see either being interested but they are in pole position to take over the most profitable routes and maybe some of the assets like the E170s.

Four Eastern aircraft with us today, one J41, two Saabs and an Embraer 145 which is parked outside Multiflight. I don't know if any of these are football related.
