Scheduled increases in July 2019
There are several increases to a number of routes from the beginning of July. June had 129x weekly departures, July will have 132x weekly departures.
- MXP (new route this year) increases from 2x to 3x per week

- EGC restarts for the summer - 2x per week

- GRO increases from 5x to 6x per week

- ALC increases from 11x to 12x per week

- VCE decreases from 5x to 4x weekly, and CGN 4x to 3x weekly.

Mid-June saw 129x weekly departures from BRS which was 8x flights and 2x routes (SVQ and MXP) more than the same period in 2018.

July will see 132x weekly departures from BRS which is 10x flights and 2x routes (SVQ and MXP) more than the same period in 2018.

REU operated during this period in 2018, but has been dropped in 2019.

Looking ahead to the rest of the summer season, August 2019 has 7x more departures per week than August 2018. September has 5x more departures per week and October 3x more. There are huge increases over October half term this year, with 37x more departures over the two weeks (28-Oct to 10-Nov) than the same period last year!

Currently the winter schedule up to Christmas has no growth each week over last year, with the exception of the couple of weeks around Christmas.

Milan Malpensa continues twice weekly during the winter cancelling out the loss of Limoges whilst we do have an extra weekly Budapest. I can’t see any other reductions so maybe a net gain of one weekly winter flight so far

It's not much of an 'extended winter schedule' thus far. Then again, I suppose after recent winters' significant gains there has to be time for a pause.

In winter 15-16 there were 55 weekly rotations on 15 routes which had risen by increments in succeeding winters to 90 weekly rotations on 25 routes last winter. That's a 63.6% increase in weekly rotations and a 66.6% increase in the number of routes in four winters.

BRS has issued a press release re the new Ryanair ski-season Grenoble route. They've included a Ryanair statement that mentions a seat sale that is available for booking until midnight on Saturday 6 July. Hmm! Perhaps someone should have read the BRS press release that was issued today (12 July) before releasing it.

RyanAir have stated today that some bases may close next year due to a 3% reduction in seats next year. All due to the aircraft issues. Wonder if any bases in UK are affected.

It's almost as if Ryanair, easyJet and the holiday airlines are firming up BRS so that, if, Jet2 wanted to launch a base in BRS they would struggle or be very much put off.

If you look at the Southwest UK in general all of the main airlines have expanded in one way or the other over the last couple of years. The area obviously makes money for them and that has led to the expansion.
Would Ryanair stop that expansion if Jet2 turned up at BRS? I don't really know they could go either way fight or flight but unlike Easyjet do have the option of expanding into the other airports as a way to combat them. Personally I think out of all their airlines BRS would be more worried about TUI and Thomas Cook especially TUI as they operate the long haul.

Kind of on an impulse booking but I've just booked my first Ryanair from Bristol. Booked a flight to Dublin in September the 08.05 departure. £27.99 one way! Just got to figure out where else I'm going to from Dublin now!

You must be getting a taste for Ryanair, Jerry.

Have you done EDI yet? Ryanair to EDI then Flybe to CWL. Timings would give you a few hours at EDI for video etc as well as DUB. Unless your transport is left at BRS of course.

That's an option! The idea I have at the moment is Aer Lingus to Amsterdam BA to Heathrow overnight then maybe some planespotting in the morning and then return home either via EDI or BHD. Haven't finalised anything yet though!
The ironic thing is that I was looking at Ryanair flights from Cardiff but with the exception of malaga are all pretty expensive and agp gets there at 23.30.

The BRS programme approximates to a seven-aircraft base. The good thing about so many flights operating from other bases is that they do not add to the intensely busy first batch of morning flights from the airport each day; do not tie up more overnight stands; they help to iron out the daily peaks and troughs at the airport.

Looks like Ryanair will be launching a new winter route to Turin. Nothing on sale yet but Bristol is on the drop down menu on the desktop site. ( my Italian not good sadly )
