Hopefully you right.

Though this might be just an extra rotation on the exsisting Islamabad service as was previously reported that PIA where looking into adding an extra 3rd weekly rotation sometime in the early part of 2009.

Yes, so did I, but that is what I have heard today. Either way we'll be getting more flights so whatever happens next week can only be a plus.

Since the Islamabad flights are proving viable, are their any chances of Lahore, and or Karachi. The more the better :D

Whatever it is, it would be great news and a real boost for LBA. If we keep this up we could end up with more PIA flights than MAN!! :clapping:

I have just been looking at the PIA web-site, and noticed that STILL (!), PIA are showing 'Bradford' only on their international route network map, and on their UK & Ireland home page, although they use 'Leeds-Bradford' when making a booking, and in their recent statements about future expansion they referred to LBA as Leeds without mentioning Bradford at all.

PIA have had long enough to sort this out surely?

i've been told today that PIA are doing an extra Islamabad from March and Dubai twice a week from April

I hope you are right - confirmation that an extra Islamabad is likely (on Mondays) is likely at yesterday's JCC meeting. No mention of additional routes but it is not the policy of the airport board to tell the JCC anything ahead of any formal announcement.

On a different note, and further to my comment about PIA's route map showing 'Bradford' only, it was interesting to see the airlines nice big advert as you enter the airport terminal - which states LEEDS - Islamabad. No mention at all of Bradford!!

I have been told that it is the airline is looking into routing a Dublin to Dubai service via Leeds Bradford which fits in with what 'tallguy' is saying.

That's excellent news for LBA. The route must be doing well in PIA's eyes.

A Dubai link would be fantastic. Did anyone see Piers Morgan's programme about Dubai last night on the telly? I only saw about fifteen minutes but what an incredible place. No planning laws there. If the Shiekh decides he likes or wants something up it goes. God, we're a backward country over here at times.

Back to the routes, shows what can happen when you have a first-class airport management team at the top.

Well the rumours about the additional flights to Islamabad were true, so it looks like the Dubai rumour is more credible now.

If the rumour about a PIA route from Dubai to Dublin via Leeds is true, I wonder if PIA will carry passengers between Leeds and Dublin and Dublin to Leeds, giving passengers an alternative to Ryanair? I would be surprised if they did, although it might get a few more bums on seats for the short hop over the Irish sea.

would be niyc to seee if PIA would put any new destination like Karachi or Lahore a try
nyc to see a few more A310s at the airport

maybe even a 777 :D wishing

The airport (LBA) have still not announced the extra Monday flight and I am given to understand that PIA have not confirmed it officially, even though they are taking bookings on it. I don't think this will be a problem as they did the same thing when they started at LBA last year - it was common knowledge they were coming to LBA for some time before any official announcement. However, with all the gloom and doom, LBA management must be itching to confirm it publicly.

Sorry to reply to my own post, but the airport web site is now showing the Islamabad 3 times weekly on the summer schedule, so presumably PIA have now confirmed it. Some good news in the midst of all the gloom and doom.

By all accounts talks of the Boeing 777 aren't all that far fetched. Apparently, the airline is seriously looking at using the 777 on the LBA route to ISB.

Hope it comes off, and if the airport does some decent improvments to the runway then it may happen but we have been here before.

Supposedly, PIA are in talks with the airport about the necessary technical improvements that the airport and runway require to handle the Boeing 777. It is though that the A310 aircraft may need replacing within around 18 months.

I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.
