I doubt we would have problems with a 777/200. If they limited capacity to say 250, could they get away without a splash and dash I wonder?

Not so long ago, PIA were supposed to be sourcing some more up to date A310 equipment, so if they are now looking at using the 777, it would suggest that they may not now be doing so. It is to be hoped that the runway can be made suitable for the Boeing, as if not, it would be a tragedy for LBA if we lost the service due to an icompatibility between the runway and the aircraft type that PIA want to operate.

Bridgepoint have, at the consultative committee, dismissed the prospect of a runway extension, and are not exactly talkative when questioned about providing more useable runway by moving the touch down points either - something that they and the previous council run regime had previously indicated was likely to happen in the shorter term. What ever they do, there is not likely to be any quick solution, so lets hope those A310's soldier on for a few years yet.

From what I have heard the main issues currently under discussion are the runway hard shoulder, fire category and apron width around the stand 8 airbridge area. I don't know if the route could be operated direct with a 777 but the Stansted service routes via Dubai so I don't see any reason why they can't possibly do the same with the LBA service.

The other snippet of news that's getting banded about is that PIA are looking at serving Lahore on a Tuesday's and Thursday's and they're apparently looking at rescheduling the Islamabad service to operate on Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's.

By all accounts, PIA are also looking at A330s, that would be a better bet due to this planes improved take off @ MTOW. Having said that, MTOW for the T7/ER would be around 8,200/500 Ft, so it would run at less capacity.

p.s my figures do not account athmospere, and physical viariables.

Leeds-Bradford Airport flights to Pakistan increased

Pakistan International Airlines announced today that its non-stop service to Islamabad from Leeds-Bradford Airport will increase from two to three times a week from March 30.

After only eight months of operations the decision to increase the frequency of the service was made due to the high demand from travellers in the Bradford and surrounding Yorkshire region.

Tony Hallwood, the airport’s commercial and aviation development director, said: “We have been working closely with local business tourism and cultural organisations to guarantee the success of this important service.

“We are delighted that the significant demand from the Yorkshire region is now being satisfied with an additional weekly flight.”

The PIA was subject to an indefinate delay this evening having suffered a bump with a service vehicle. Hopefully the flight will be able to depart tomorrow.

So who hit who?

Sounds as though the aircraft is still at LBA if the pax are having to go out of MAN. PIA will not be happy about this will they? Lets hope it doesn't sour relationships between the airline and airport, although no doubt it will have been one of the service partner company vehicles that did the damage.

Can anyone offer more information on this incident?

Would that be the wheelchair people that are always late to the aircraft and not very good in general (tee he he)

It looks like the Islamabad flight is leaving leeds at 1900.pm tonight ,according to the airport web site departures.

Hmm the PK158 ? You could well be right although that has changed since this morning unless it's an additional flight.

I think that must be the 'injured' aircraft positioning back, becaue the PK775 is due in at 1907 and scheduled to depart at the normal time as the PK776

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
