It's nice to see that passengers are returning but with less travel restrictions hopefully we'll see certain routes pick up again, seems weird to see Amsterdam especially so low in passenger numbers.

I've decided to just post an initial report for October as, at present, there is data missing from various airports and this will effect the final figures - but they probably won't be available for about another month. When full data is published I'll produce a fresh update. Tables used from the CAA site are 3, 9, 12.1, 12.2 & 13

The CAA has now produced its third and final version of October 2021 statistics and here is my take on it:

We are slowly moving in the right direction, it's a shame that we still have such along way to go. Thanks for the info Scottie Dog.

It's so sad to see Edinburgh so low considering how historically it's been such a busy route.

CAA stats December 2021
15,390 passengers used the airport in December. Up 1748% on December 2020. Atms were 247 up 1147.8%.
The rolling year was 122,729 down 44% on December 2020. The rolling year will also be Cardiff's total for 2021.

Nice increase in the total for December, it's a pity we have such a long way to go, to get back to before Covid, this year however should see a large improvement in passenger numbers.

Nice increase in the total for December, it's a pity we have such a long way to go, to get back to before Covid, this year however should see a large improvement in passenger numbers.
With Wizz Air and TUI providing substantial seating numbers and Vueling, Ryanair and KLM also chipping in along with the smaller presences 2022 should certainly see people using the airport again in substantial numbers.

CWL has been hard hit in the past year although the last few months have seen increasing passenger numbers compared with much of the pandemic period. How much the WG's approach to travel has played a part in holding back the airport might never be known with any certainty. This list shows the top 30 UK (including Crown Dependencies) airports in terms of passenger numbers shown in millions for the calendar year of 2021.

It shows what a grim year it's been again for everyone.

This seems to be the picture across the board in the UK, simply because of the whole Covid testing regime - which of course wasn’t scrapped until February…

Things can only get better!

January was invariably the weakest month of the year for passenger numbers at most (all?) UK airports pre-Covid.

It's strange how the CAA can regularly produce statistics which give to different results.

For January the passenger total, using tables 2.1 & 2.2 (international & domestic passengers) give one figure - which is the one I use, and yet Table 9 gives a total passenger number of 11,191.
