Re: easyJet - Summer 2016

I've taken a look at the easyJet schedule for a week in August 2016 and mapped it all out.
It seems that all 13 aircraft will be used all day, everyday and there are no gaps in the schedule any more (except for an hour on the ground here and there on quieter days rather than the usual 40 mins). There is certainly no gaps to fit in any extra flights without removing flights from the current schedule, or having more flights operated from other bases.

Below is the number of weekly flights from BRS (including rotations from other bases as above):

19 - GLA
17 - BFS
15 - FAO
14 - ALC, PMI, AGP
13 - GVA
11 - AMS, BCN, NCL
9 - NCE
7 - INV, MAD, MJV, CDG, FCO, TLS
5 - BOD, LIS, PSA
4 - BSL, SXF, KRK, PRG, VCE
3 - BJV, CFU, PFO, DLM, GIB, LRH, MRS, MAH, OPO, SPU, TFS
2 - BIO, CTA, CPH, HER, DBV, FUE, IBZ, IOM, ACE, FNC, RAK, NTE, NAP, OLB, VIE,
1- ZTH

In total, that makes 314 departures a week from BRS to 53 destinations!!

There are four destinations that will see non-BRS based aircraft operating some of the flights - EDI, GLA, NCL. All four flights a week to VCE are operated by VCE based aircraft.

Below is the number of departures per day:
Monday - 47 (2x EDI & 1x VCE operated by non-BRS based aircraft)
Tuesday - 43 (1x EDI operated by non-BRS based aircraft)
Wednesday - 43 (1x EDI & VCE operated by non-BRS based aircraft)
Thursday - 46 (1x EDI operated by non-BRS based aircraft)
Friday - 47 (1x EDI & VCE operated by non-BRS based aircraft)
Saturday - 41 (1x GLA & NCL operated by non-BRS based aircraft)
Sunday - 47 (1x EDI & VCE operated by non-BRS based aircraft)

Whilst on the easyJet theme, this appeared in today's local paper

This does show how important easyJet is to BRS. The legacy of the work of the then CEO John Parkin and his team in persuading Go to choose BRS as its second base has paid off in a way that I'm sure few people would have anticipated. When easyJet bought Go there was doubt at first in some people's minds whether they would remain at BRS.

Incidentally, I think saying that today is one of the busiest days of the year at BRS is not quite true. Replace year with winter and I wouldn't argue.

There were 79 departures and 79 arrivals today, well up on normal winter days, but in the summer 90-100 daily arrivals and departures are fairly standard.

easyJet flights from Bristol to Dubrovnik, Nantes and Venice will start in 2016.

The airline also celebrated flying one million passengers between Bristol and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport last month since launching the route in 2006.

Ali Gayward, UK commercial manager for easyJet, commented:

“We’re really proud that 40 million passengers have chosen to travel with easyJet from Bristol Airport – it’s a testament to the hard work our staff put in every day to provide easy and affordable flights with friendly customer service.

Certainly an impressive figure for an airport of BRS's size and they show how important easyJet is to it. They've included the Go figures in this as they've gone back to 2001.

It was a medical issue according to a poster on another aviation forum. I note the return from Arrecife scheduled to arrive at BRS at 1530 is showing a 90 minute delay on the airport arrivals page.

Easyjet are re introducing Reykjavik from October. Twice weekly thurs and sun . I note wow have not launched their winter flights from Brs but have from other airports .

Geneva

Mayfly is showing six easyJet rotations on this route next Saturday (13th). The additional (sixth) rotation is shown as easyJet Switzerland, an A 319 arriving at 1340 and departing at 1415.

There will also be the two weekly Saturday charter flights to/from GVA operated by TOM and TCX.

Did Ezy cut corners today.

I flew out on EZY 6005 to Faro. Sch departure of 07:50. Bright sunshine all morning. Not a hint of fog. All previous flights took off on time. AMS after us took off on time. We were fully loaded and ready by 07:30.

At 08:20 we are still on tarmac. Only problem i could think of was all the windows were frosted. Could not see a thing.

Did EZY save on defrosting the plane and waited for the heat to clear the frost on engines and left it running till it was safe to fly after testing all the bits.

We took of around 08:35 and windows still frosted till eeclanded in Faro

Ver very strange.

With such a delay I'm very surprised that the captain did not give an explanation.

I can assure you EZY did not cut any corners. Your flight was ready to go on time at 0745 and then was given an air traffic control slot at the last minute, with ATC restricting your departure by approx 25 minutes. All the aircraft are de-iced overnight with what is known as 'kil-frost'. This substance is designed to 'stick' to the fuselage to prevent re-freezing. Because this type of de-icing fluid can continue working for hours after application, it gives the effect of the windows being 'frosted' over as the substance hasn't been diluted and washed off by any rain, as the substance is very thick and glucose based.

This is perfectly normal and does not affect anything, except your view into the beautiful Algarve 🙂

But I like Yokel am amazed the captain did not explain the delay to yourselves. I would have thought that this would have been courteous if nothing else! Most EZY captains would!

Blatter's successor used easyJet to BRS this week.

Gianni Infantino, the new President of FIFA, flew from Geneva into BRS with easyJet on Friday to attend the annual International FA Board meeting in Cardiff.

He made a point of saying that he and his colleagues are 'normal people' who must make the best use of resources. This is in sharp contrast to the old FIFA guard whose normal travel mode was private jet or business/first class air travel.

The new FIFA President said that his life was saved when he was a very small child thanks to blood being flown to him from Bristol Airport 46 years ago.

Now if he could use his good offices to get us a decent football team....................... Richard Scudamore, CEO of the Premier League, is a lifelong Bristol City fan but he hasn't managed to get us into his league yet. :shok:

Checking last year's Mayflys there were five 320s last summer and that number has continued through the winter.

New routes start this week

The new Venice Marco Polo route (reinstated after several years absence) began yesterday at 4 x weekly. The booking engine shows 'sold out' yesterday on the outbound and also 'sold out' on Sunday on the outbound.

Nantes begins tomorrow and will operate 2 x weekly having taken over from bmi regional that operated the route last year in peak summer. Tomorrow's outbound flight is shown as 'sold out'.

Obviously the Easter factor plays a huge part in loads this week but Venice MP was always extremely well supported when it flew previously with easyJet. Fares on this route over the next few weeks seem generally quite high which ought to be a good sign re bookings.

This route is now shown extended until 9 June at 2 x weekly. Originally it was to finish for the summer in April.

It's shown (as posted a few weeks ago) as returning at the end of October but no routes seem bookable yet into November. As WOW begins on 13 May there will be five weekly rotations between both airlines for nearly a month in May/June.

the ezy flight that was due to depart saturday the 2nd of april, got cancelled due to tech issues with the aircraft. the flight is now to depart brs today the 4th of april.the long delay was down to shortage of staff to operate this flight.departure is due around mid day.ezy will reimburse all costs to pax and hotel bills.

Was discussed on Radio Bristol this morning.

Some punters are not happy bunnies. easyJet fixed up accommodation for some of the 173 passengers in Fuerteventura, prioritising the elderly and families but there was a shortage of available rooms for everyone. Others were told to make their own accommodation arrangements and claim the money back from easyJet. The radio presenter raised the not unreasonable point that if easyJet couldn't find accommodation for all the passengers how could the passengers?

According to the BRS website arrivals page the flight is due at BRS at 1700 today.
