If this announcement does come soon, as has been said P.Kehoe is due to be leaving soon, and this time of month is usually when they release pax figures for the previous month.

Strong monthly growth and a big announcement would be a good last day on the job.

My bet would be British Airways to all the main US cities!
Hi there hay677, if you're bet is right, well then this could be huge and massive for birmingham....AndyC.

My bet was half-joking - ALL the US cities would be a bit much ;)

It does seem odd Mr Keyhoe would leave just before an earth-shattering announcement. Perhaps a new route to US (BA?) or China which actually needs the runway extension would be a great time for him to leave, helping justify his huge expenditure on that. On the other hand if it fails to happen he would probably be fed up enough to want to go anyway.

What about Norwegian? MAX flights to the US and maybe 787 flights for Florida the Caribbean and maybe Thailand?

Im sorry but even if Singapore Airlines was announced tomorrow to Singapore x 5 weekly, after the news today that we could potentially be losing UA and flights to New York i would be feeling  and not (y)

We were told New York JFK would be replaced very soon after AA departed and it wasnt.
Maybe at the time AA left, BHX were thinking of the same airline flymetothemoon is referring to now, given the timescale of route development, I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

I'm hoping there is more than one announcement in the pipeline, I think we'll need more than one to get over today :(

Anybody else getting fed up with this.A few people know what may be in the pipeline and most of us do not.
They cannot tell us and we can speculate forever and a day and be none the wiser.
Lets put it to bed and if we hear nothing in say a month we can direct our wrath at the few.

I too, would love to know. This however is a public forum. Just about anyone with internet access can read posts here (you only need to be a member to post messages).
Business negotiations are often long and complex (due diligence et al) and can fail for any number of reasons. One of which would be failure of confidentiality agreements.
Those that may have inside information are telling us what they can without letting the cat out of the bag. So, they are saying that there is something in the pipeline. It may come to nothing or it may be very good news.
It would not surprise me at all, if airports and airlines scour these forums to see what may be leaked and to have an insight into what competitors are doing. For that reason (and the fact that posters may lose their jobs and even be prosecuted if they've signed a confidentiality agreement), we should respect them and appreciate what information they are able to pass on.

Lets put it to bed and if we hear nothing in say a month we can direct our wrath at the few.

I think that would be very harsh, considering the above and the fact that information has been posted with the caveat 'if it happens',

Kevin

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
