Probably yes when empty. Not probable withs full payload. "Landing" when devoid of fuel is far more probable than "taking off" with a profitable payload so whilst I love DL's ideals, realism is a far different entity. I must have four pints on a Thursday night more often because it seems to make me start quoting sense! I thought alcohol was supposed to encourage "rubbish"

LBA in the news again this morning....for all the right reasons this time. BBC Breakfast have given out the UK airport punctuality details. Gatwick came out worse, but LBA and Belfast (didn't say which one) were named as the best performers.

LBA were also on the news on the Pulse this morning having moved up the league table on promoting disabled travel. Our CAA rating is now 'good' which puts us ahead of our bigger neighbour. The initial report on the Pulse was slightly negative but the second time around it sounded far more positive. Last year we were in the 'taking steps category'. The link i've posted is a report on it - the CAA website still refers to 2016.

So we're more punctual and more proactive towards disabled people than our biggest competitor - that's not a bad end to the week.

My partner requires special assistance and I must concurr with Manchester rating as poor. I always have to smile when forum members rate Manchester far higher then LBA, they would not if they were disabled.
All airports including LBA are failing to recruit enough SA staff to meet demand.
We use LBA fairly frequently and its taking longer and longer to get from where a family members drops us off in the terminal, to be taken by staff to the new collection point by gate 5.
Its the same at Malaga, it took JET2 staff using wheel chairs to get us off our recent flight as that wished to reload and no SA staff available, its was 90 minutes before we arrived at the baggage hall, were fortunatley Jet2 staff had removed our cases from the carousel.
LBA staff are caring, friendly and considerate, whereas manchester staff are quite the opposite, not sure why, and your wheel chair is usually dumped in an area with no windows and devoid of air con and expected to sit for one or two hours without food, water, toilet etc
Contary to the survey find heathrow and Gatwick to treat SA passengers with respect, accept long waits occur.

If they have been getting 120 000 per week (not necessarily every week), with the 3 extra days they may get near. They only need 10% extra than last year and they will achieve it. Having said that, I think 480/490 000 is going to be the best hope.

So the new Aviation Development Director Chris Sanders has followed his old pal, "The airports new Chief Executive" David Laws, whom also joined after been at Newcastle Airport.

Lets hope these 2 aea as good or hopefully better than the 2 out going Tony Hallwood and John Parkin developing the business with its owners Bridgepoint Capital by investing in new facilities and also securing new airlines and routes.

Hello, does anyone know the dates that the summer schedules end for J2, Monarch and Ryanair? I'm just wondering when movements will start to reduce for winter. Thanks in advance for any help.

Think you'll find that Jet2 and Ryanair have already started slowly to reduce from this past weekend on high frequency routes. Some further big changes come into effect from end of this month going into early October.
The main change over date for scheduled flights (eg EXS, RYR, MON, KLM, EIR, BAW, BEE, EZE) from Summer 2017 into winter 2017/18 is the last weekend of October (Saturday 28th/Sunday 29th) whilst charter flights (eg TOM) normally change a few days later (October 31st/November 1st)

Bride who scarpered with £13,000 stag do fund ‘faces police probe’ – as jilted groom says ‘I want to forget all about it’

"The group met up in the centre of Cleator Moor at midnight on Wednesday and waited for a privately booked coach to take them to Leeds Bradford airport for the 6.45am Jet2 flight."

Crikey that is a nasty piece of work if what she has alleged to have done is true.

Thanks.....now it makes sence....however it is nice to get on, start up and taxi without having to push back.
Aircraft parked 'into wind' still have to be pulled by tug to the taxiway to prevent jet blast affecting ground equipment or adjacent structures, for example the Stand 8 to Stand 14 walkway. Keep safe!

The last time we parked up this way, we were only allowed to exit via the rear doors and deemed to windy to exit through the front doors, which seemed a bit strange.
Unfortunatley you cant start up and move forward due to the jet blast and we had to wait for around 30 minutes and just sat on the taxi way, before a tug came and pushed us back.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
