Maybe a few posters got up early, ruffled their feathers but missed the worm! Methinks we should have taken a bit more notice of BA general manager, Luke Hayhoe earlier this year when he praised the infrastructure, location and transport links at BHX with the comment that BA will 'look at future opportunities from Birmingham' and that the airport was 'in the framework for future growth'.

Well apart from Ibiza, City Flyer will be back next summer with a based frame and with improved timings to flights.

Mr Hayhoe at his word? And might there be future opportunities and future growth. Better to be calm and hope that there is....

Indeed. Lots of talk of Florence moving elsewhere and BACF pulling out and what do we end up with, a based aircraft :)

Ibiza definitely looked the weakest last year but Palma didn't seem a stellar performer either, hopefully a choice of improved flight times will help. Florence and Malaga both looked strong so hopefully with the revised times we'll see them grow even more.

In all fairness, ‘technically’ the Florence (evening flight) did move elsewhere for that aircraft, but BHX gained a new flight time instead.

Not sure if I read the press release correctly as I could see 8 routes (not 7 as they state) from MAN, 4 for BRS and only 3 (not 4 as they state) from BHX.

Good news though that this summer was not a one off.

I think the four “routes” refer to the number of flights; x1 Florence, x1 Malaga and x2 Palma.

It refers to routes, but the article is a very poorly worded one considering it’s an official airline release.
The BRS press release is similarly ambiguous as I've commented on the BRS BACF thread. On that they say all BRS flights in summer 18 will be the E190 but test bookings show a E170 on FLR as in summer 17.

Well it’s the fact that they are saying things like pretty much all the BHX routes, MAN-NCE/ALC and BRS-AGP are new routes for S18 and that MAN-IBZ sees one extra flight (it goes 3 to 5 weekly).

Like I say, for an official airline release, it’s very poorly written. It’s almost like it was a rushed job because the info was leaked?

To me it seems that the quality of airline and airport press releases has been steadily deteriorating over the last few years.

There have been quite a few recently that have been really bad, non more so than that one posted on here from Thomas Cook.

I wonder if there is such a thing as proof reading anymore?

Are you referring to this part:

"Additional summer routes include flights from Manchester to Alicante and Nice, from Birmingham to Malaga and Florence and from Bristol to Ibiza, Palma and Florence."

I took that to mean "other destinations we will be flying to are.." (not necessarily implying that they are new)instead of "these are new routes that we will be flying".

I guess if 2 people can interpret it in different ways then it is too ambiguous and poorly written.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
