GDS is suggesting nothing different to recent posts which is also replicated on BA's website so I have to agree that the end us probably nigh for the route. Just like LM with GLA makes no sense to me to kill a route where pax numbers are growing. Oh silly me, must be having too much impact on BA's connecting traffic ex MAN so they want to redress the balance. KLM must be rubbing their hands with glee at all this

Liverpool lost its KLM Amsterdam route passngers loads were growing on it but it was beginning to affecting their MAN service. Similar scenario.

hi lbaspotter
the b.a. route cuts match up to what i was told in november when you checked for me they were not in the system at that point, they are using 1 slot for a pm to L/Aa and 2 more for sun routes, so i was told
regards

I think with an airport as constrained as LHR, it’s no surprise that routes like this are marginal. It’s not of the lack of local support, but BA are in full cost cutting mode and the slots can easily be employed on more lucrative services. It’s what makes KLM so popular in the regions.

It would be a shame if they do leave completely, but all will not be lost. The new team in place will most likely be working on replacing lost capacity already.

Heathrow campaigned for support from many UK airports without a LHR link to help them with their campaign for 3rd runway. The idea was this extra capacity would allow the regions to have more Heathrow connections. Personally I always felt it was a pie crust promise, however LBA maybe should point this out, should BA cut route.

Yesterday I was checking for LBA-LHR flights in September, to fly down on 19 September and return on 1 October and there were 3 flights each way.

Not anymore! Its been changed quite considerably within the past 24 hours as noted on here.
Saying that its worth noting as things stand they haven't yet got around to making changes to next winter 2018/19 season which is still showing 3x flights daily from late October.

I may be called cynical, but this could be to reduce the demand for seats because people can't make the connections, so don't book. Then BA pull the route because people aren't using it.

On the other forum i saw a post saying that the slots at Heathrow will be used for a long haul route and 2 sun destinations but no destinations were posted.

So it was a slot sitter operation from the start by the sound of things !
Makes you wonder if they would have ever given the route what it needed to develop.

When the route began, I do remember reading that some were suggesting that. Bring back BMA they did a sterling effort for years serving regional airports. I used them from LPL quite often

Many said it was a slot sitter and the route would be gone in 12 months. To be fair it has lasted 5 years and hasn't gone yet - despite these huge cuts. In some ways it would have been as easy for BA to just drop the axe on it completely rather than maintaining what is a token presence. We can only hope that when LHR finally gets its 3rd runway the slots are available and BA have the willingness to do better, having seen the potential. Meanwhile, I have written to LBA formally raising this issue for discussion at next Thursday's Consultative Committee meeting and my email has been passed to the Aviation Development Director, Chris Sanders.

Was that the question as to whether or not AMP were going to revise it or stick with it as published? Personally I think they will stick, rather than twist, as it would look odd for them to publish a Masterplan, and Consult widely on it, then do something else. However, what they might do is change the order, bringing forward plans and putting others back, where they consider that priorities are different. However, I will try to find out.

Thank you for raising it. I have been really disappointed with the news this week, but hopefully not all is lost and over time we can get the 10 rotations increased.

My son traveled down on this mornings BA1347 and tells me there was only around 10 empty seats on the flight, so the demand is there if only BA would give it the justice it deserves. Back tomorrow on BA1342 so will be interesting to see what loads the lunchtime flight has.

Very interesting to see, as I note the flight has been cancelled Sunday lunchtime

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
