Mumbai definitely appears to be a target but whether they are close I do not know. It is apparently a very difficult airport to gain slots so any service may have to displace another.

With the way that Amritsar is set up I wouldn't be surprised to see it extended to Toronto at some point. Tue, Thur, Sat from ATQ and Wed, Fri, Sun from YYZ.

The current Mumbai airport is a single runway airport and busier that Gatwick so yes very difficult to get slots. There are plans for a new airport that will open by 2020 at the earliest, so perhaps once that happens Mumbai could be an option...

I’ve just found this it says the will start fly to Amritsar 5 times a week
https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com...to-five-times-a-week/articleshow/64024382.cms

Ten weekly would be nice with five each to Delhi and Amritsar. If the article is true and they're seeing 90-100% load factors then it makes sense. This is Air India though so they won't go on sale until 2-3 weeks before :)

"The recently introduced Birmingham to Amritsar flights will soon be operating five days a week," said British Sikh MP Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, who spearheaded the idea of connecting the two cities.

"It's been in the pipeline a while but now the Indian Cabinet has given the green light for it," he added. "It started on two days a week, last month they agreed to make it three days and now it will become five days a week. I thank the UK and Punjabi travellers for the enthusiasm with which they have made the flights successful," Dhesi added.

Nice too see DEL back to daily - disproves the theory held by many that the Indian market from Birmingham isn’t just about Amritsar.

Two daily flights to India three times a week from BHX? Who’d have thought eh?

With the not entirely unexpected AI expansion of services to ATQ,

where does that leave the Uzbekistan return?

Nothing showing on the Air India website yet or google flights yet.... any update on when these will be loaded?

This is a nice bit of juicy positive news for a change.

That spokesperson for Air India last week wasn't bluffing when they said they wanted to work closely with BHX to grow services from the Midlands to India and they have delivered.

Great stuff Air India (y)

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
