MAN is updating "China Dividend" in China today. No specifics in terms of passenger numbers against projected but meant to be fastest growing China service that's been going 12 months in the UK.

What is of more interest are these nuggets:
Export values from Manchester Airport to China grew 41 per cent to £1.29bn in the two years after route launch, while national values fell 30 per cent.
In 2017 there were 58,000 visits from China to the North West and a total spend of £125

I may be able to do a few hours spotting at manchester airport next week while i'm off and i was wondering if the Airport Viewing Park? charged a fee and if it's spotter friendly ie a platform like at BCN?

The viewing park has mounds which allow for great views of the runways. Entry is free if you arrive by foot or public transport. Car parking charges there can get a bit steep.

Ok thanks i'll be arriving by car so i guess it could cost me a bit!

It also faces the sun and is no good for photography until after 4pm, unless it is a cloudy day. I won't mention the price of car parking! 🙁

Any other spotting locations i could go to?

If you look on www.spotterguide.net and search for Manchester it will give you a map of all positions. I usually park off the A538 (near Holiday Inn) and walk through the Bollin Valley nature Park. This leads to a track that runs parallel to 23L, plenty of places to get above the fence with the sun behind you.

Jerry - If you do end up going to the visitor's park then I would (unofficially of course) suggest that you stop at the Romper Pub that you find on your left just after you turn off the main road. Leave your car in their car park at the pub and walk down to the viewing park for free admission as a pedestrian. I would however suggest that you have the courtesy of having a drink in the pub - as payment for using the car park - before you go spotting!! You can also, subject to space, park at the side of the side opposite the pub car park and not then avoid buying a drink.

Thanks for the info!

Anyone have a link to how much the new(?) decking cost over T1/3 Mid stay cost please?

Sorry leedslad but I'm slightly uncertain exactly what you are asking. Has predictive text cut in and changed the meaning of your question?
If you're referring to car parks, and in particular the new T2 one, then it won't be in use until 2019.

Regards
Scottie Dog

I just noted that the T1/3 Mid stay has what appears to be relatively new deck parking. Looks like a second deck was built above surface parking? Perhaps it's not that new. Just was interested if the cost was public out of interest.

Okay I understand now. Regrettably I still can't help but maybe somebody else can. The last time I was in the mid-stay at T3 I saw that it was signed as advance reservations and visitors to Olympic House only. I might be wrong but I think I hear somewhere that Meet & Greet were using the decking car park - or maybe that's to be in the new multi-storey car park behind the hotels.

Ah OK thanks. Yes just really interested in the cost of construction for something quite unrelated. Interested in cost of decking versus land cost for more surface parking...

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
