Such a dump :sneaky:

A sombre day. I hate to lower the tone but I have tried to find a Flight Sim. thread as I have a query and I hope to get some advice from users.

I have to change my desktop PC since XP no longer functions. I have a Windows 10 desktop ready to take over and was planning on getting X Plane 10 or 11 but I do not have the physical and/or mental stamina get get involved with software engineering. Furthermore the Saitek Yoke and control quadrant is appealing as using a keyboard is problematic for me given significant disabilities.

If any forum simmer's have any advice, I would welcome it before I expend limited funds. I currently use MS FLIGHT SIMULATOR X Deluxe Edition, with World Airports and a PANAVIA TORNADO add-on. This is before XP became unusable.

I tried EBay for unwanted hardware re. Flight deck controls. No luck there but plenty of Herpa 500 models, I await delivery of A380 of Emirates to join my expanding fleet. Thank you folks

Hello again and if inappropriate please relocate to the correct thread.

I regret not being able to attend BHX in person as this has become impossible. However, I do enjoy much time at MIA via perhaps the best webcam facility I have stumbled upon.

The pictures are excellent with background sound and an ATC facility that remains optional. I warn
that it is an airport dominated by AA with many S.American airlines but the European carriers come good with AF A380, LH A380 and in darkness a BA A380 in addition to numerous A330 and occasional AN124. Regular movements from Atlas with B747's are interesting as the camera pans over the Cargo facility across runway09/27 south.

In honesty, the best yet!!

Sorry but I forgot to mention that the man/woman controlling the camera sometimes tracks the approach and landing and taxi-ing to the terminal of particularly interesting arrivals and similarly departures but light rules these events.

Hi Jenny

There is a Fightsim thread in the Avgeek section of F4A -

FSX Flightsimmulator discussions

Although it's FSX related, I'm sure you would find help there.
I personally use Lockheed Martin's Prepar3D (academic version) as my flight simulator. It is based on FSX (so any setting up will be familiar), but has been vastly upraded and runs much better than FSX although the minimum spec requirements are somewhat higher.
I have read very good reviews of Xplane 11, for which I believe you can download a demo version but have not tried it myself.
Likewise, for Prepar3D there is a no questions money back period if you are not happy with it.

I have just skimmed it and it only merits a skim! Comparing with the likes of Edinburgh, Lincoln and Dundee exactly what has Birmingham got? A transient show for foodies? I hate to sound negative but how did Birmingham get the Commonwealth shindig and Paradise circus/square remains a building site making driving to the city a challenge, why would anyone wish to come?

I was born there, I lived and worked there so I have a fondness for the city and it has an airport I would use before all others provided the options were in place to reach a destination with little fuss.

Hi Jenny. The article in the link is not the one that was in the paper yesterday.

Every week the I has a weekend in article, and yesterday it was birmingham's turn. It should be on the website soon.

Sorry for any confusion.

Solihull Moors play in the FACup second round tonight against Blackpool one of the competitions most famous teams. Wouldn't it be great if they get through and then end up playing at either St Andrews or Villa Park ?

The game is on the Beeb, about time they had something decent on strictly come whatsit doesn't count.

Game booked on TV for me. Beer in. Spot of sofa reserved. Been promoting it at work and at least one colleague watching which is not bad for Essex. Cannot wait. Come on the Mighty Moors.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
