How did TUI manage to get hold of a Wamos 747 with that important football match taking place today.

Probably booked way in advance of that.

Just got back and with wife and kids heading straight to bed I've just poured myself a glass of the Rioja that we bought back (it's never quite the same though).

It was great to finally get a ride on a 747, something that I'd pretty much given up hope of doing. Such a noise on take off but it made short work of the Las Palmas runway.

As for the aircraft, apart from a rather unpleasant smell I didn't have any problems with it. Some of the arm rests were worn and I wouldn't call it an ultra modern interior but the seats were comfortable enough and the legroom great. I think the cabin crew were a little disinterested when compared to Hi Fly on the way out but I prefer to be left alone anyway so I really didn't mind. The rest, food & beverage etc, was standard TUi service so can't really rate Wamos or Hi Fly on that front.

Do we know how long TUI have the aircraft for and how long it will be based at BHX?
I see it is currently on the way to Malaga this morning.

They seem to operate over the weekend positioning in on the Friday, although we have had some midweek flights from the MAN based Olympus A321 and Titan.

Wamos 747 is enroute from Malaga TOM7751 on its way to BHX if anyone wants to see it, now due at 15.02.

I caught sight and sound of WAMOS 747, heck it was far noisier than expected and it was a glorious thing to behold.. If it follows normal inbounds from Spain I may catch it again weather permitting, later today.

oops, perhaps not if R15 is in use. Sod it!!!

If it follows a similar pattern to last weekends Hi Fly it should be heading to Larnaca. The scheduled departure time was 15:35 but the TUi flight stats website has it estimated as 16:30.

Turkish Airlines flight TK1969/1970 on Monday 29th July is scheduled to be an Airbus A330-300 this aircraft MAYBE upgraded to Boeing 777-300ER
