Nope, it was a 738 G-FDZG. It was around 3 hours delayed so this could be a factor? Only more inconvenient for the passengers though.
hi all
can the pax claim from tui?? will the 3hr delay run on until they arrive back at lba from man not sure how this works?

If it was 3 hours late anyway; adding travel time for the M62 (2 hours) won't play any factor in decision. If they know this - they'd probably opt to divert as they are already liable for EU261. Just watch where that aircraft goes next is all i'd say and see. The MAX's are defiantly playing around in the operations department of TUI and will continue to do so for a long period of time. What a nightmare.

PS/ Maybe if they went A321 NEO for 757 replacement and growth they wouldn't of had these issues? hehehe.

I can see your logic but can’t imagine they’d particularly want to position a plane from BHX either (which still hasn’t left).

Th original aircraft (ZG) is now getting ready to do MAN-AYT (over 2 hours late).

There we have it; they are having to juggle aircraft about to try minimise the delays. Its probably a case of pick on the aircraft which are not as full as full ones and let them creep into 3 hour delays as it is cheaper to pay EU261 comp on a plane of 140/150/160 pax over a plane of 189/235.

A friend of mine was supposed to be flying with TUI to Corfu from Leeds but guess what they have now been told they are flying from Manchester! Didn't take long for that to happen, what a surprise!

TUI destination acronyms for their LBA ops:
Can't Offer Return Flights, Useless
Passengers Are Loving Manchester Anyway
Manchester Airport Has Offered Nothing
In Bradford Its Zany Anyway
Manchester And Leeds Are Growing Apart
At Leeds It Can't Always Need Tui Everyday
Don't Ask Leeds About Manchester Anymore Now
Tui Even Needed Everything Right If Flights Existed
Routing Everyone Up Stockport
Great Expectations Ruin Our Niche Airport

God I must be bored tonight......

The fact that the passengers have been informed well before their trip, and that they’ll still get to go on holiday is surely not such a problem?

“What a surprise” - A little harsh given that TUI has been majorly affected by their MAXs being grounded. They’ve been doing well to get their customers away on holiday given that they’re over 7 aircraft down on peak-summer requirements. To cope they’ve had to extend leases on 757s, bring in 7x wet-leased aircraft at last minute and yet are still delivering customers to their destinations.

I can see why it’s more fun to point out that it’s another TUI vs LBA situation, but at the end of the day this has been happening all over the place, not just to one of of LBAs 3x weekly TUI flights!

Even though a longer journey is required, at least these LBA passengers are getting to go on their holiday.

Is it just them or the whole flight? As it could be possible that the flight is over booked or that the aircraft size has gotten smaller hence the need to shift passengers to MAN.

Tui have had an unenviable reputation at Leeds for some time now in that they have moved most of their content out of it. What has got up people noses is that they have advertised flights and holidays from Leeds, bookings come in, then cancel Leeds and move their passengers elsewhere. Its what we here have come to expect. Why???..they can`t compete with Jet2

And to continue an acronym point for TUI anti LBA stance:
Deliberately Obstruct Nearest Competing Airport So To Expand Rapidly
Make All Nearest Cancellations Having Easy Surplus Towards Extra Routes
Let's Eradicate Everybody Deliberately Somehow

There are other things to consider when TUI do this sort of thing people will have pre booked car parking or hotels for the night before I would imagine getting a refund from NCP or whoever would be like pulling hens teeth.

They regularly announce new routes at BHX and ditch them and presumably elsewhere also so it's no suprise Jet2 are giving them a run for their money, well our money actually.

Just checking the TUI Summer 20 programme, it appears that CFU & PMI both available from LBA. I'm assuming a carbon copy of Summer 19?

No surprise that the only LBA routes they do now are to places that cruises start from - cruises which Jet2 Holidays do not do. They clearly have no intention of trying to compete with Jet2 Holidays from LBA.

I would`nt mind betting that they sell crusies based on the LBA connection. Then suddenly, when enough have booked, merge them with Manchester flights and cancel all or most of the LBA. After all its only what they have done in the past. Why anyone trusts these clowns is beyond me!!

I agree that they often don’t show much interest in LBA (as shown in constant Sunwing base and ultimately base closure), however they have operated all of their planned cruise flights from LBA this summer.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
