They did and I went on it a couple of times - 100% full and P&O cruises usually had an LBA waitlist!Didnt TUI operate a few flights to bridgetown with the 767 a few years back? Or am I thinking of something else.
But surely LBA as an airport needs to aspire to having all 3 of the major tour airlines based there? TUI are still a pretty big company for an airport like Leeds not to have based there.Glad to see the back of them tbh.
The latest TUI news from the travel agents is that TUI aren’t focusing on Leeds becuase Jet2 have used all the day slots... for some reason that just doesn't seem true...
No doubt some of the more popular routes were full Snowman, but overall, loads were down and Tui stated that LBA was their worst performing airport in terms of average loads. The previous winter, their TFS service was also their worst performing route, hence that being canned last winter.hi white heather
we used tui/sunwing twice last last year to agp and the flights were all full both ways, thought we would be ok for agp flights this year but sadly no such look,so dsa for us.

They are talking nonsense Louis. TUi were contracted to LBA using Sunwing. They failed to compete with Jet2 as they don't have the flexibility offered by Jet2 Holidays, and as a result their loads out of LBA were poor last summer. They fail to recognise though that part of the problem is also that people no longer trust them to either operate the holiday they offer in the first place, or deliver passengers back to LBA as scheduled. People have learned that if you want to fly out of and into LBA as you booked, want a huge range of flights to choose from, with the option of varying length of holidays, then you book with Jet2 Holidays instead.
I get that on the LBA that TUI do seem to be almost hated but I do feel that they are an important airline and that an airport the size of Leeds really should be able to sustain all 3 of the tour operators like other airports in the UK and similar size do. As for the reasons why it isn't well I'm sure that will be debated for a long time to come.I think Leeds doesn't really need TUI anymore. It was the 2nd largest tour operator and 3rd largest airline in the UK. It also has 2nd largest airline in Europe. All they need to do now is encourage the harped airline to expand, attract the orange to base and offer its services to the Yorkshire market, and keep encouraging the red.
Was the CFU-LBA flight a 757? If so it is no surprise really.
